??? Night Foggy “Welcome,” Igor said, “to the Velvet Room.”
Souji closed his eyes and let the familiar greeting pass over him. It was one of his rocks, something he knew he could depend on when November came and he once again failed Nanako. “Hello, Igor. Where’s Margaret?”
“We recently met with another visitor, one whose destiny had changed abruptly, and Margaret chose to spend some time speaking with her.” Igor’s hand had moved absently as he spoke, and four cards spread out on the table. Souji watched in silence as the old man flipped each point of the triangle in turn. From his silence, Igor seemed to be doing the reading more for himself than for Souji’s benefit.
“And the center?” Souji asked, when a few moments had passed and Igor made no move to reveal it.
He remained silent, but he did flip the card.
Fortune.
Somehow, Souji wasn’t surprised.

“Welcome,” the woman with long blonde hair said, “to the Velvet Room.”
“This again?” Naoto asked blankly, taking in the limousine and the foggy landscape it drove through.
“Oh, so you recall your last visit? Very unusual.” The woman smiled. “I am glad that I chose to speak with you after all.”
“What’s to recall? It was a dream,” she replied. “A strange one, but a dream none the less.”
“A dream… Perhaps you might consider it so. But this is the Velvet Room,” the woman said. “It exists between dreams and reality. Normally, one does not enter here without a contract. However, due to the connection you share with one of our guests, we may make an exception in your case.”
“I don’t…”
“You don’t need to understand,” the woman replied, almost gently. “I am Margaret, and my master is Igor. While you are here, I will assist you. My only request is this: seek the Wild Card as soon as you can, and aid him in his search for the truth. But for the moment... Good night, Shirogane-san.”
