(Sorry about the long hiatus,it takes awhile to try to get some good ideas. As usual, please be warned this does have disturbing themes including: rape, murder, death and angst. Please use your discretion.)
The acrid smell of hospital grade disinfectant would hit Dojima's nose like a fist. Slowly he opened his eyes, they felt like they had been glued together,sticky..hard like they had been closed for a long time even though it seemed like minutes to him.
He took in a sharp breath as the bright lights would hit his eyes, his pupils shrinking at the bright lights. His head had a perpetual and dull ringing that started at the base of his skull and echoed its way forwards. His thoughts jumbled as the contents of the wreckage he had left behind.
Where,where am I?
A nurse would quietly wander into the room, distracted she didn't seem to notice that he was awake yet.Fiddling with his IV drip,Dojima must have made a noise because she looked over with a start.
"Y-your awake.."
Dojima wondered why she was so surprised. Had it been that bad? He couldn't remember much, and as far as he knew he had all of his body parts intact,at least that's what the slow creeping pain that began to throb through him stated.
At this point,he figured out that he was in the hospital. In the hospital and....and...
Where's my family..
His mind would get a bit sharper as the question reared it's ugly head. Looking around slowly,he realized he was in a room..alone.
Dojima went to ask, went to ask where they were. Only a soft series of grunts as he tried to form words would escape, his mouth felt extremely and unpleasantly dry. He could swear he tasted a hint of copper on his tongue, just a little bit.
"Where?"
"Where are you? Your in the hospital of course."
He shook his head again.
"Where ... are the others?"
The nurse looked confused for a moment.
"Others?"
"..N..nanako...where's...nanako?"
Her expression seemed to change slightly, moving from confusion to sudden realization. Her eyes would flicker away from the man.
"I should..really get the doctor. He'll want to take a look at you now that your awake." She moved away from the bed. "H-here you can watch television while you wait,it shouldn't take long" Her fingers flipped the knob on,causing Dojima to squint from the brightness again. Hurriedly she would leave the room.
"W..wait!" He called out weakly after her before giving up. Closing his eyes again,he felt exhausted.Drained even though he was probably out for awhile. He began drifting off slowly until his ears caught the voice on the television set.
"Investigators are still looking for the suspect of last months car crash which critically injured an off-duty Inaba detective and claimed the life of both his wife and daughter. Police are asking citizens to phone in any information they might have concerning..."
His eyes would snap open just in time to see the two photos lingering on the screen.
...No...
"...No.."He finally uttered out loud, sitting upwards as he stared in disbelief, numb to the pain his injures caused him.
It turned out that as weak as he was...Dojima still have the strength to scream in anguish.

(Again, please be aware of dark themes associated with this story.Thank you.)
Adachi rocked on his heels slightly as he listened to Dojima reminisce. His expression seemed to be one of of silent contemplation before he finally rose upwards in one graceful motion.
"Well..." He began, breaking the silence that began to fall. "That's terrible isn't it?Someone just leaving you to die like that? In some ditch somewhere?"
He began to slowly walk around Dojima, seeming to study him, size him up.
"I heard that they only found you when a passing motorist noticed all the glass. Whoever it was, they didn't even have the decency to call the police did they?"
He stood behind the other as he leaned downwards, his face tilting down to peer into Dojima's eyes.
"Did you ever find out who did it? Did you ever find the murderer who killed your wife and child? Huh?"
Dojima's lips would pull into a thin line as he narrowed his eyes up into Adachi's.
"..."
"You did, didn't you?" Adachi's eyebrows rose into false surprise as he slowly leaned backwards, walking around to crouch in front of his captive detective.
"What did you do Dojima? Hmm? What did you do when you came face to face with them? Did you yell?Did you scream? . ..Did you kill them?"
"I'm not like you. I don't kill people for no reason."
A sharp blow would cause a ringing to erupt in Dojima's ears, the slight taste of copper would fill his mouth as his head jerked backwards from the blow of the fist.
"They deserved every bit they got.You and I both know it!" Adachi seethed, his eyes would be smouldering with quiet rage. Rage, and almost fear from what Dojima could tell.
"Those sick sons of a bitches, they were scum, vermin to get rid of." Adachi paced slightly, his back turned to Dojima as he would continue on. "They were...monsters."
The detective rubbed his jaw slightly, wiping away the smudge of blood.
"And the others?Did they deserve it too Adachi? The ones that never even touched you?"
The younger man would go quiet, staring towards the doorway. He started to feel that feeling again, that unpleasant knot in his stomach of dread, fear, helplessness. He didn't like it,how this man brought it up,but in a different way.
Why,why did I do it?
They deserved it..they were going to hurt you
No no no no that's a lie,you shouldn't have.
They were accidents,I never meant to kill them. I just wanted...
...I just wanted the nightmares to go away
"I can't stop.." Adachi whispered softly to no one in particular, his gaze still drawn to the doorway.
"What?"
A mirthless laugh would escape the young man, shaking slightly from the intensity.
"B-because.."His voice cracked in between laughter, turning his head to look towards the detective. An almost sad smile at his sudden realization "I can't stop myself anymore.."
"Adachi..you need help." the detective would say softly, surprisingly gentle for the situation. Maybe he would chalk it up to Stockholm Syndrome down the road, but something..something made him want to help this man.
The smile would fade from Adachi's face, jerking from the doorway to knot the front of the detectives shirt, lifting him slightly off the floor as he shook him.
"Who's going to help me!? You!? You of all people!? Why,why do you even care!? Why do you keep looking at me like that!?"
Dojima finally pushed back, his head throbbing after being jostled so violently. Shoving Adachi backwards,he didn't push hard but it surprised the other enough to cause him to let go and fall backwards.
I'm losing control..I'm losing control
Adachi's wide eyes would stare towards the detective he had originally thought helpless. His prisoner, his prisoner that was taking pity towards him!
"Adachi.."
"Get..get away from me!"
The door would open and close with a resounding slam, locks being clicked hurriedly. Dojima would find himself alone again.Silence filling the air once again as each man were left to their thoughts, their ghosts which were becoming clearer and clearer as they came to light.

(I haven't forgotten about this story, just needed some more inspiration. Writer's block is terrible. Anyways, please be aware this contains Dark themes. Reader discretion is advised)
It really hadn't been so hard to track the man down. Not after a gas station attendant from a neighboring city had reported a strange car driving in which looked like it had been in an accident. They had gotten the plates, but the man himself had kept slipping through their fingers. Seeming to be two steps ahead of the police. But Dojima had found him.
The bar would have the same sanitary smell from the alcohol wafting in the air. The nearby jukebox would wail out some distant sounding sound as Dojima walked in,feeling the weight of the gun in his pocket. Tonight he had left his badge at home, but that didn't mean that some sort of justice wasn't going to be carried out.
Dojima sat down at the bar, feeling a little bit of rage start to bubble up to the surface. The man was a little younger than he was, sporting dark circles under his eyes. Red rimmed from years of alcohol abuse that seemed like he would never take care of as Dojima watched him down another shot. He didn't seem to care, give it a second thought that he had killed two people and nearly a third.
I don't care if he had just taken me...but not Nanako.
She had a future ahead of her that had been snuffed out in that instant. Dojima was still having a hard time looking into any rear view mirror without thinking he saw her sitting there, smiling like on that day.Like his own personal haunting.
Dojima would idly nurse the mug of beer he had ordered as he waited for the right moment. Watching as the man,the murderer, would stagger upwards and off into the direction of the men's room. After waiting a few moments,he would follow. Looking around slowly to find that they were the only two around.
"Do you know who I am?"
"Should I?" The man would slur slightly, zipping himself up.
"Do you know who Nanako is?"
Dojima had gotten the reaction he was hoping for, seeing the drunken face suddenly turn guilty. It was better than the surprised expression that came as Dojima slammed him into the wall, pinning him as he put the gun against the drunk's temple.
"P-please!Please I'm sorry! I'm so sorry man!"
"Shut up"
"Please,I didn't mean to do it! I didn't mean to kill anyone!"

(Yes,I still am working on this story. I really do apologize for the hiatus and inconsistency with my posts. But I do hope whoever still is following,or is reading this finds it interesting.)
(Please be advised, this fiction has a dark theme to it including scenes of death, murder, rape, and various other things which may be considered unpleasant. Thank you.)
The third time seemed to be the charm,if you used that particular phrase. The last, thin crack that had been etched into Adachi throughout the years, perhaps it had been the turning point, the breaking point that had made him into the monster he was now. The one that protected, and yet, abused the vulnerable young man that he had pushed inside, hidden away from everyone else.
The third time, hadn't been an accident at all. The third time,as he felt himself being shoved against the office wall, being penetrated over and over again, ripped from the inside out,it had been retaliation.
Why can't they just leave me alone? Why can't they just stop it? Why?Why?Why!?
The question he had hated so much,he loathed hearing because he had never gotten an answer himself. Screaming in Adachi's mind as he struggled, clawing his fingers into the suit jacket.
He won't stop,this won't stop.
Hurt him Adachi, hurt him like he's hurting you.
The suggestion came suddenly, softly like someone whispering the answer to a particularly difficult question. Confusion took him over, unsure where the suggestion came from, the thought.
The fear, the desperation welling up inside of Adachi made the voice sound all the more convincing, all the more comforting. It wasn't that hard,it wasn't that hard to stumble up behind the figure as he started to walk away, after he left the stains on Adachi's shaking legs.
It wasn't that hard to loop the tie around the man's neck, silencing him and just pulling. Tighter and tighter as that body shuddered and struggled underneath his grip.
Adachi remembered how white his knuckles had become from pulling so hard, how he laughed and sobbed at the same time as the sounds of choking filled the silence, until it finally stopped to end with the heavy sound of a body falling to the floor.
Fingers slowly would untangle themselves from the red piece of cloth that had been used, letting it slide onto the floor as he stared at what he had done. Shuddering breaths would go through his body.
I killed him..
A slight well of revulsion would hit his stomach as the realization had hit him like a fist to his stomach. The second time he had stopped someone,it hadn't been like this. Sure,he had pushed him,but the stairs had ended up killing him. This time, this time it had been Adachi's own two hands, the ones that throbbed and tingled from their efforts.
You stopped him from hurting you,he'd only do it again.
The voice came cool,comforting.
"S-so it's over?" Adachi breathed out, needing to fill the silence, with something anything.
They'll be others Adachi, don't worry. I'll protect you.
Adachi's eyes threw another glance towards the corpse cooling on the floor, the slightest hesitancy flickered in his eyes before it was gone. Replaced by the mirthless smile that started to form on his face.
He would never let anyone hurt him again. Not if he could help it.
-----------------------------------------
Adachi would stare at his reflection in the bathroom mirror silently. Things had seemed to be so simple those many years ago,it seemed like everything would be alright but the nightmares continued.
The sick ball of fear that would knot up into his stomach whenever someone would get close to him, when someone touched him. Whenever someone brushed up against him,he silently screamed into his thoughts to keep from doing it out loud.
Adachi didn't need anyone to think he was crazy, now did he?
Except now he was doubting himself,he had never before. He hadn't felt any remorse, questioned his actions until he had taken that detective.
The more he talked to Dojima, the more he began to wonder what he had done. Had those people really been going to hurt him?Had he really protected himself by kidnapping them, putting them through the same things he had been through?
Or had he become the very monster he was trying to kill.
The acrid smell of hospital grade disinfectant would hit Dojima's nose like a fist. Slowly he opened his eyes, they felt like they had been glued together,sticky..hard like they had been closed for a long time even though it seemed like minutes to him.
