Episode 19: The Vengeful Pair Sensing the end of the battle approaching with the appearance of general class opast Elegy, Takashiro summons Hotsuma and Shusei to Kamakura. Episode 21: The Indelible Image Yuki, Kuroto and Senshiro challenge general class opast Cadenza, but quickly find themselves overwhelmed by his incredible power. Cadenza sets his sights on God's Light and attempts to deal the killing blow. Their enemy Reiga comes to their rescue in the nick of time. Yuki sees traces of Kanata in Reiga's face.
Some points: - I marathoned almost to the end of this series! - Looks like the other side is more powerful, to be able to spirit away one of the Zweilts. - Normally, when one is in a fight, almost loses, when a third party interferes, one would run for one's life instead of staying there and watching the outcome, right? - I was right, Kanata is back and he's the bad guy. - I think Reiga/Kanata will turn out to be misunderstood and a good guy through and through and will be redeemed at the end of the manga not the anime - with 3 more episodes, I think it'll be open ended. - Where is Yomi? It looks like Takashiro, Yomi, and Reiga were a love triangle. What happened to the boss during the Heian Period? Yuki asked about him but there was no answer! Maybe he's the bad one. - All the bad characters have creepy designs. - Luca's cloths are over the top :) - I'm curious about Luca's back story.
Re: Uraboku 8-21lyschanNovember 22 2011, 23:15:08 UTC
I've only watched a few of the later episodes (was trying to figure out what happens immediately following what I'd lettered) but I know the part you refer to with the line "Normally, when one is in a fight"... haha. I know I'd be running for dear life! I'm also expecting some sort of twist to redeem Kanata. And I haven't trusted Takashiro from the start, him and his stupid long (thousand years' growth long!!!) hair. But the anime didn't show what happened to Yomi? The manga covered that (though it left things a little vague and questionable...). Maybe they'll reveal it in the last couple episodes.
Re: Uraboku 8-21badtzphotoNovember 22 2011, 23:56:32 UTC
Well, Yomi was part of the story that Takashiro told from Heian period. She died in the fire incident, but then why hasn't she reincarnated like Reiga? Maybe she's reincarnated as Yuki's mother? :P Why did Reiga cut Takashiro's face? Also, it doesn't make sense that Reiga would rescue Yuki from Cadenza (his character design is really creepy!) I've read that the anime ends at volume 7, so ... what volume have you lettered? I don't mind being spoiled :) I think Luca suspects that Yuki has strong feelings for Kanata. Source of angst for him, I'm sure :D "I know I'd be running for dear life!" Same here. On top of that, they even tried to analyze the situation like sport-broadcasters. Silly Kuroto and Senshiro.
Re: Uraboku 8-21lyschanNovember 23 2011, 04:29:09 UTC
Ohh, I see what you mean about Yomi. In the manga, Takashiro explained that the reincarnation thing works by his using some spell on the person before they die (so if they're already dead it's too late and they'll just reincarnate like any other person-that is, you can't predict when or where). There was also something about souls destroyed by duras being un-reincarnate-able? So if she died in a duras-attack... I'm not entirely clear on all this though ^^;; I'm usually laughing to myself at all the drama while I work on the series, so my memory's a little unreliable.
Why did Reiga cut Taka's face? I don't know... was that in the flashback? I think I just assumed they had some kinda fight and that was the scar left from an attack.
I've lettered through v6 so far. It left off with Cadenza teasing/tormenting Luka; Yuki'd just set off from the mansion to look for him. (and I may be wrong, but I thought it was night, so when I saw him running off in daylight in the anime, it threw me off a bit. not that that's really important.)
Re: Uraboku 8-21badtzphotoNovember 23 2011, 06:35:01 UTC
Takashiro did explain the soul destroyed part to Yuki. The anime skips the part that he cast spell on the person. Well, in the anime, Egyle (?) torments Luka in the dark area, in the woods or something like that. True, the series is really dramatic. I'm always amused with Luka's fashion :P I can't stand Cadenza. Did you have to retouch the including color pages, too? I didn't intend to buy the series at first, now I'm on the fence. I think I may buy it if the library doesn't have the second volume on time ;)
Re: Uraboku 8-21lyschanNovember 23 2011, 14:17:48 UTC
Oh, Elegy!! Whoops, I totally got that mixed up. Right, she's the one who was teasing Luka. Cadenza goes with Kuroto's story. Sorry ^^; As I said, my memory's unreliable.
Yen Press has someone else do the bulk of retouch work for colour art, but I've done a little touching-up on a few of the Uraboku illustrations.
Hee, thanks for your interest and support for the series!!
Episode 22: To the Final Battle... Reiga and Cadenza retreat to Infernus, granting everyone a temporary reprieve from battle. Having pushed the limits of his power, Yuki loses consciousness and collapses. Witnessing the damage Yuki suffered in battle, the Zweilts gathered at the Kamakura mansion renew their promise to end the war. Episode 23: The Battle of Traitors Yuki has fallen into Reiga's hands. Having Yuki stolen from him in front of his face, Luka is unable to conceal his frustration with his own powerlessness. Hearing the voices of his allies, Luka returns to his senses and decides to rescue Yuki with his friends. Takashiro also searches for Reiga with the intention of rescuing Yuki. Meanwhile, Yuki awakes to find himself unable to move as a prisoner of Reiga. Episode 24: Connected Hearts The final battle between humans and demons has begun. The Zweilts charge into battle with hearts brimming with emotions and desires. Yuki suffers at the sight of those he loves coming to harm as he watches Luka fight Reiga. Luka does not back down from Reiga's powerful attacks. Their fierce battle is interrupted by a young man very similar to Luka in appearance.
Some points: - Ah, I supposed this is the end of the first arc. - I'm glad that #24 is a breather. - Another fashionista character rivaled Luka is Tachibana - just look at his hat collection. At one point, he wore something similar to a bishop's outfit!
Bottom line, very fun and guilty pleasure series. I wouldn't mind a second season of this :)
Re: Uraboku 22-24lyschanNovember 29 2011, 20:37:17 UTC
Heheh, Tachibana! I wonder if that guy exists for anything other than to show off his hat collection. I guess he provides comic relief too... a way for the author to get the silly out of her system :D
