Vol 2: From RS website Gingacho Street Market is a little street tucked away in the corner of the city. There, six friends - Mike, Kuro, Iba-chan, Q, Sato and Mamoru - have finally begun high school. Though they've all grown a little bit older, Mike, at least, isn't that much wiser. She's just now starting to wonder about this thing called "love." She doesn't know what to make of it yet, but it keeps popping up - like when the local flower shop starts getting vandalized shortly after it's announced the owner is getting married. Then there is everyone's new lives at high school, and the sports clubs just won't stop bugging her and Kuro to join one! Strangely, the idea of her and Kuro being split up into different clubs really bothers her. But on a lighter note, a new family just moved in to the Market, and they have a young daughter who needs the grand tour! Vol 3: From back cover More charming adventures await the stellar six! The bond between Mike and Kuro becomes even stronger when they help a stray puppy find a home, but their relationship sparks the jealousy of other school girls. Meanwhile, a crayon-scrawled treasure map reminds them all of what "The bestest thing" in life really are*. Additionally, Kuro, Q, and Momoru must deal with the sudden fame that comes from an unknown photo sent to a magazine!
Some points: - I got #2 from a local Border closing sale and #3 from Midtown comics last week due to seangaffney's post - The funny thing is I wouldn't have gotten the series since the first volume didn't interest me much. - The art reminds me of the art of The Recipe for Gertrude - angular and pointy hair. - Some interesting development romantic-wise. - Mike is still clueless, and everyone knows about Kuro. - I'm curious about Q since Kuro knows.- I wonder if Sato had a crush on Kuro since she kept the movie ticket in her treasure box? - I think I know who ends up with whom from volume 10 cover, but the journey there is very fun.- Fan girls are scary. - The oneshot in volume 2 is very interesting and touching.
Bottom line, I'm getting the japanese takobon to find out what happens next!
