Some points:
- borrowed from interlib loan.
- I read some rave reviews about this series but forgot where. I wasn't sure if it was because reading this series right after 36 volumes of Boys Over Flowers and I had a burnout syndrome or something, the series didn't click with me very much. The plot seems to be predictable and when it turned out that the 4 brothers are not related by blood to Sakura. I read the first 3, then jumped to the end just because I've got it at hand (there are some missing volumes) since I'm curious about the ending.
- Maybe I borrowed it again and read it later.
Bottom line, jury is out.
57. 2 volumes of Children of the Sea (海獣の子供, Kaijū no Kodom).
wikimanga updates Written and illustrated by Daisuke Igarashi
from Viz website:Vol 1: When Ruka was younger, she saw a ghost in the water at the aquarium where her dad works. Now she feels drawn toward the aquarium and the two mysterious boys she meets there, Umi and Sora. They were raised by dugongs and hear the same strange calls from the sea as she does.
Ruka's dad and the other adults who work at the aquarium are only distantly aware of what the children are experiencing as they get caught up in the mystery of the worldwide disappearance of the oceans' fish.
Vol 2: Umi and Sora are not alone in their strange connection to the sea. Forty years ago, Jim met another young boy with the same powers. As penance for letting the boy die, Jim has been searching the world for other children with those same ties to the ocean.
Anglade, a wunderkind who was once Jim's research partner, lures Sora away with the promise of answers. This leaves Umi severely depressed, and it is up to Ruka to help her new friend find his brother. But time is quickly running out...
Some points:
- #2 borrowed from local library.
- I have #1 for some time now, but didn't feel like starting it. Now that #2 is due, I have to read 1 and then 2. Good reason, huh?
- The books are beaufiful with French flaps like all other Viz Signature series.
- Interesting story.
- The art is really nice.
- I didn't feel that it's my cup of tea. I don't hate it, I don't like it. I'll borrow #3 from the library when it's available.
- I have a shallow taste!
Bottom line, probably not for me.
rambling about Banri Hidaka's art books and stuffs
- I got the last cmx continuing series this week: Venus Capriccio 4, Two flowers for the Dragon 6, and Stolen Hearts 2. Very sad. No more new cmx manga. I've gotten a few complete series and they are coming.
- A shipment from CD japan arrived last week containing:
- Illustrations of Banri Hidada: I hate♥ and Tears color arts: so beautiful. It made me want to dig out Tears and reread it again, it's my favorite series of hers. I like Kanzaki a lot. She drew beautiful wedding dresses :) There are characters I don't recognize from page 58 to the end. Also there are comments at the end I can't read and comics on front (Tears) and back (I hate♥) covers. I'm nuts but I haven't open the envelop to get the extra book out yet. Want to keep it intact. One of these days!
- Tale of an unknown Country #3: the end of the series. There seems to be about when Rosemarie was little, and there is a girl for Rosemarie's brother but I can't be sure. Anyway, we know the ending but the way there is not clear!
- Venus In Love #9: it looks like a turning point in the series, I can only guess what's going on based on the drawings but not the details when they talked!
- Sasuga is closed :(
