Aww, volume 6!! I cried too. I still cry whenever I reread it. Ahh... In some ways I think the story really gets going with the next volumes. I think you'll be meeting one of my favourite characters in the series pretty soon... :)

Some points: - From the blurbs, I had expected the series to be much darker, it was a good thing that's not the case. - For ex: vol 7: Hal was said to be "a party animal" but it didn't mention that he was also a good guy. I thought he would be a bad influence for Cipher. - In vol 8, it says: "Hal decides that he needs to help Cipher bring out his wilder side" - eek! I was thinking of drugs and totally overlooked the next sentence regarding ski trip! - Vol 9: "Then, when Siva is attacked by a group of punks, Cipher feels a pain in his stomach" - I thought Siva got stabbed - emergency room! He's on dead bed or something serious. - I have wild and active imaginations, wouldn't you say? (rolling eyes at myself!) - The twins grow a lot separately. - Cipher's version of the same story. - In the end, I'm glad they both understood their mother and father better and reconciled with her

I don't think I ever read the back-cover blurbs for this series. You're right, they do make things sound a lot more scary/serious than they actually were!
I really appreciated how the twins' growth was shown in the series, even though it was so so sad that they had to be separate. I think I was a little sad that Anise seemed to get left behind, sort of (by the story AND by Cipher). But there were some interesting parts for her too.
I'm with you about not liking Alex as much as I might/should've, but I do adore Hal. He's just such a sweet and funny guy!! I'm glad he was there for Cipher.

"Anise seemed to get left behind" I think it's hard to balance 3 characters Cipher, Siva, and Anise and give each the equal attention. I like the ending - it's like a beginning ... To me, both Alex and Hal take time that the twins share, so ... I don't like them in similar manner :) I'm sure, I'll like them better each reread of the series. I also like the art at the end of the series, too. Everyone ages/matures accordingly.
