From Viz website Vol 3: Ageha's meddling may succeed in reuniting the Kuromine siblings, but her effect on the V.B. Rose staff is getting more and more complicated! Her skills as an assistant are growing exponentially, much to the joy of all concerned, and her feelings for Yukari are slowly being noticed by those around her... Vol 4: It's summer vacation, and Ageha is looking forward to spending a whole lot more time at V.B. Rose, surrounded by a world of sparkles, getting to know the business, and maybe--just maybe--getting to know Yukari Arisaka better as well. But when Ageha is invited to model a bridal gown in a mock wedding ceremony, who will be her groom?! Vol 5: Finally, Hibari gives birth to a beautiful child and many visitors come to visit her and the newborn at the hospital. Unfortunately, so do Arisaka and Nagare. When they accidentally run into each other, Arisaka's jealousy rears its ugly head once again! Good thing they have Ageha, who's always ready to step in and clear things up for this unruly pair of young lovers...
Some points: - Cute! I like Ageha and Yukari. There isn't anyone in the cast that I don't like even the siblings Sakashita. I like the sister because she's such a good friend to Ageha. The brother, well, he hasn't done anything for me to hate him :) - He does seem twisted, though. - These 3 volumes are fun to read. I like this series more and more. - But 3 more already published, so only 6 more, maybe the next 2 or 3 years? - I'm used the the art now. And the hair over/hide the characters' eyes doesn't bother me as much :P - I'm glad I checked this out base on lyschan's and double_dear's rec. Yes, I've joined the dark side :D
Re: V.B. Rose 3-5lyschanMarch 9 2010, 19:50:34 UTC
*cackles with glee* I can't hate any of the characters either-Mamoru is so awesome I have only love for her, and while Nagare creeps me out (as he does Arisaka) he's kind of awesome in his own way. He's sneaky, but he's not outright evil. And usually his actions result in things actually happening between our adorably silly lead couple who would otherwise be content to sit around and leave things as they are. So I forgive him.
Re: V.B. Rose 3-5lyschanMarch 9 2010, 21:46:20 UTC
Hee. Mamoru does what she wants, and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. I love that. And hm, yeah, Nagare is kinda like Mitsuya-sama. And oh, Tsuyu!! I adore her! I want to be her!! Kya~! (well, it's more her cute cute fashion sense and style that I want. but she's awfully cute. and she's the sort who's way too much fun to tease, so I can't really blame Mitsuya-sama.)
WC-Hahahaha!!!! I'd forgotten about that. Hidaka-sensei's end/side notes make me laugh SO much. Did you get to the bagel incident yet?
From Tokyo website Vol 6: Arisaka and Kuromine accompany Ageha to visit her best friend Mamoru and her brother, Nagare, at the Hojo High School's Cultural Festival. But the fun gets out of hand as a pair of girls get paint on their uniforms. Good thing for Arisaka and Kuromine, who come to the rescue with their sewing skills! Meanwhile, Nagare continues to play mind games with Ageha and Arisaka as he vies for a chance to win Ageha over. And an unexpected ex-girlfriend enters the scene, stirring up even more trouble! What can all this mean for Ageha and the boys at Velvet Blue Rose? Vol 7: Unrequited feelings may still be bothering Ageha, but that won't stop a good joint birthday party! Even Arisaka getting a little bit sick only leads to happy and unexpected events. There's not much to do at V.B. Rose over the holiday season, but as Ageha frets over Arisaka and Kana's past relationship and her own feelings for Arisaka, Nagare begins to make his move! Will Nagare's aggressive tactics make Arisaka confess to Ageha? Vol 8: Confessing his secret affection all these years, Nagare begins his pursuit after Ageha, and things become awkward between Ageha and Arisaka. Meanwhile Arisaka has been uncontrollably frustrated ever since he overheard Nagare’s confession, but Ageha is too disturbed by the sudden change of relationship with childhood friend Nat-chan and does not sense Arisaka’s true feelings at all. How will things between Ageha and Arisaka turn out when he makes her cry?
Some points: - It's good that I save up to read this series 3 volumes in a row :) The wait is agony. - I like Ageha a lot. And Kuromine, I want him to end up with the Tsuyu for her sake. - The birthday party is so much fun. There are only 2 options, I went for the other one and I was right. Otherwise, it'd be too boring! - Kana and Arisaka's back story. It's sad. - It's fun to see all these characters second-guessing themselves and angsting a lot! - All wells that end well. - Obviously, Nagare didn't give up easily. I feel sorry for him, but I'm happy that things went well for Ageha. I can't wait to see what Nagare came up with in the next 5 volumes :) - I like the author's art more and more, espcially girls fashion. But Kana's hair bugs me :) - I hope that this series does well for TP so they may rescue I Hate. - I like that the covers and the font are so girly.
Re: V.B. Rose 6-8lyschanJune 30 2010, 03:39:15 UTC
I don't really like Kana's hair either. Hidaka-sensei does funny things with hair-over-eyes. Oh well... I do find myself more interested in Kana herself after v8 though. Somehow I can't quite feel sorry for Nagare yet, probably since he hasn't given up yet. He's quite fascinating :D
I think you already know I'm a big fan of Tokyopop's designers, and this cover design is no exception. It's perfect for the girly-frilly-lacy-flowery-sparkly world of VBR!! Next volume's out in a month! (or so) Yay!!
Re: V.B. Rose 6-8badtzphotoJune 30 2010, 16:23:48 UTC
Mamoru is quite fascinating as well. She has Ageha's interest at heart even beyond her brother's. To think that Mamoru and Nagare can bully Arisaka is really something. Nagare is too mature for his age!
From Tokyopop website Preparations for the Bridal Fair are fully underway as Arisaka adds the final touches to the dress Ageha will be modeling. But then disaster strikes; the dress gets ruined just a few days before the show! Now Arisaka and the V.B. Rose team must work non-stop to fix it, and to make matters worse, during all the excitement, Ageha forgets to buy Arisaka a Valentine’s Day present! Can Arisaka and Ageha make it through the Bridal Fair show? And what is the surprise Arisaka has in store for Ageha?!
Some points: - The kitty is just too cute for words. - And the dress is stunning both versions. - Nagare is nowhere in this volume. I wonder if he's really out of the picture, even though Arisaka is still scared of him and his sister :) I wonder why ;) - I think I've become a fan of Banri Hidaka! - Looks like trouble is brewing and not from Nagare's direction.
Bottom line, such a blissful volume - love is all around.

From Tokyopop website Just when things were beginning to go well between Ageha and Arisaka, Arisaka’s estranged mother, actress Ran Kashiwagi, shows up without any notice! When she learns about Ageha and Arisaka’s relationship, Ran uses her commanding nature to drag Ageha away on a shopping spree. However, Ran shows her softer side as she tells Ageha the story of how she fell in love with Aoi and gave birth to Arisaka. Ran realizes she’s been a terrible mother, but can Ageha help her reach out and mend her relationship with Arisaka?
Some points: - I had forgotten about this volume that I got last month. - This one is mainly Arisaka's family story - his parents and the abandonment. - Ran is so funny. Her reaction when she first arrived at VB Rose: "Goodness! Yukari, why are you still so small?" and the next few pages. Hilarious. - The author drew the cutest kids/babies: their eyes so innocent. - Yukari and Ageha are just too cute for words. - Mamoru and Nagare are back for a few pages and still pose great threat to Yukari :) - Shout out to Maki, Kazuha, and most importantly Hina - aw such cuteness.

From Tokyopop website Ageha learns the heart-pounding and hilarious story about how Yukari and Mitsuya first met. As close as they are now, it's hard to imagine that these two friends started off as bitter rivals (but boy was Yukari extra-cute back in the day!) And when the history of Mitsuya and Tsuyu's long relationship is finally revealed, will it lead to reconciliation or a final parting of ways?
Some points: - Middle school Yukari is too cute for words. - I'm hoping for a happy ending for Mitsuya and you-know-who. I don't think I can wait. If you know the spoilers, please tell me :D - Yukari had a hair cut by Maki. - I missed the siblings!
Re: V.B. Rose 11lyschanJanuary 11 2011, 23:38:05 UTC
I haven't read even this volume but re: spoiler, there's a little bonus comic in the VBR artbook that takes place at those two's wedding. I'm pretty sure that event happens before the end of the series, so we'll definitely see a happy resolution there...
Re: V.B. Rose 11lyschanJanuary 12 2011, 02:56:42 UTC
"The bride"-you mean the character in the first panel of the extra comic? Ha ha ha, that's someone else... (...a guy (...Yukari :D)) The real bride shows up a couple pages later. Just three (four for me) volumes to go now, wow!!
from backcover Their feelings for one another may have started way back in grade school, but is there anything left between Mitsuya and Tsuyu now? And how will Tsuyu's impending arranged-marriage meeting affect Mitsuya's actions? It may be time for the fear "Mitsuya sama" to step into action to get back the girl he loves?
Some points: - last volume in English since TP is shutdown! That's really too bad. Another Banri's series that isn't complete in English. What is the chance that Bery bery will be released in English? Maybe third time is a charm. I'm dreaming, yes, but it's a good one. - This volume is mainly about Mitsuya and Tsuyu. - Their younger selves are just too cute. - Mitsuya is even more immature than expected. He acted like he's mature but he's not really. He acts like a grade school boy hitting/picking on the girl that he likes. Strange. - Tsuyu is so beautiful. - Kimonos. - Tsuyu's father is great. - I've gotten #13 and #14 in Japanese and have looked at them. Will have to look at them some more to guess about details. I hope Lys shares what she knows about them when she looks at the volumes :)

Isn't she? She even takes Ageha's side against her brother!
"but he's not outright evil."
Like Mitsuya-sama :P - Does he like Ichihashi? I think he does that's why he teases her too much :)
Also WC = Washington Club - heh!
