from Viz website:
An average guy meets a popular girl, and puppy love gradually develops into a serious relationship. But when the girl falls tragically ill with leukemia, the young man must come to terms with what it truly means to love someone.

Some points:
- It's the same as manga with prose - unlike Be with you. The ending is more opening ended than that of manga, howerver.

Bottom line, probably not a reread.

30. 1 volume of Mars.

from Tokyopop website
Popular Rei and shy Kira are worlds apart, until one fateful day brings them together. Rei stumbles upon Kira in the harassing hands of her sleazy art teacher and saves the quiet girl from his clutches. And when the jock plants a kiss on a statue of Mars in the studio, Kira finds herself drawn to him and even summons up the nerve to ask him to model for her. But problems already lurk on the horizon. Vicious upperclassman Harumi has had her sights set on Rei for a long time, and is not about to let go now.

Some points:
- I didn't plan to read this series since I read its prequel: Mars: Horse With No Name combined with what's written on wiki - I felt that it was too intense.
- I checked it out from a public library and I thought the story was good - so I'll check out the rest of the series. However, it looks like #7 and #13 are hard to find :(
- I wonder what's going on at Tokyopop. It produces a few good series: Tramps like us, Mars, and the ever popular Fruits basket to name a few that I read (There are also other series that I read and like but they aren't popular and seem to be on hiatus or in limbo Platinum Garden, Gatcha gacha, Never give up ...

Bottom line, I borrow #3 and #5 from the library and ordered other books in the series, even though I said I'm not checking out any new series this month.

Continuing series:
  1. Anime: Kaleido Star 21-52 - The End.
  2. Manga
