Happy 2009, may the year be filled with mangas, books, and anime :)
1. 20 episodes of Le Chevalier d'Eon (シュヴァリエ, Shuvarie) (French meaning: D'Eon the Knight).
from Wiki from IMBd from Rotten Tomatoes from Anime News Network - Interesting series. I don't know what to expect - and horror just turned me off, but this series keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole time. There were some horror moments but ... There are some unepxted twists and turns ...
At one point, there was hint that the bad guy turned out to be good guy, and good guy turned out to be bad guy. There are hints that the king was involved with Lia's murder. I still maintain that Comte Saint-Germain.
------------
1. 2 volumes of Girl who runs through time (時をかける少女, Toki o Kakeru Shōjo).

from CMX website:Vol 1: Based on a popular Japanese story that has been adapted into both manga and film, THE GIRL WHO RUNS THROUGH TIME shows that even though we might think the ability to change the past would be a great gift, it can also have some unexpected consequences.
Kazuko is a high school senior who has no idea what she wants to do in the future. Alone one day after school, she discovers a broken beaker in the science lab. She smells something sweet in the air, passes out, and finds herself transported back to her own past! Will Kazuko use her ability to travel through time wisely or selfishly?
Vol 2:This two-volume story comes to its dramatic conclusion. As Kazuko investigates whether a friend and classmate is being abused by an older boyfriend, her efforts reveal a new twist in her powers. Then, when an accident occurs at school, will she be able to run into the past and prevent her fellow students from getting into harm's way? And a mysterious new teacher warns Kazuko against messing around wit
Some points:
I didn't know what to expect from this series. Obviously, it's a sci-fi. And the main character is cute - and it's only 2 volumes.
We met with Kazuko and her friends (1 girl and 2 boys - she had a crush on one, and the other had a crush on her) during the senior year in high school. The book opened with the scene where Kazuko was at a beach - and smelled some familiar scent. Note that scent is very important. I didn't notice it at all. I didn't expect the twist at the end at all. I've been thinking more about it and it appears that Kazuo is a bit creepy - changing Kazuko's memory and such, right? The story jumped back and forth during time - maybe she remembered the past, maybe she traveled time to her past. But it's not confusing. I thought it was interesting. I definitely check out the anime.
Bottom line, despite what I mentioned above, I think I like this series just fine, since there are only 2 volumes, I'll keep them - I'll probably follow the series if there are more.
2. 1 volume of Please save my earth (ぼくの地球を守って, Boku no Chikyū o Mamotte).
wikiManga updates Written and illustrated by Saki Hiwatari
from Viz website:Life's hard when you're shy, harder still when you move from your quiet hometown to the bustle of a big city and a new high school. Poor Alice also has to cope with being regularly harassed by the bratty neighbor boy, Rin. Her life turns upside-down when she's stuck babysitting Rin and the annoying chore ends in unexpected tragedy. What Alice doesn't realize is there could be a greater force at work than unhappy chance!
Some points:
- I don't know what's kept me from reading this series - and finishing the first volume.
- Alice is too weepy for me to the point that she appears annoying.
It's going to be fun to keep track of the characters' 2 names - one on earth and one on moon. Another thing that contributes to turning me off to this book is probably an elementary boy who's in love a high schooler and bullying her on top of that.
Bottom line, since I have 14 volumes, I probably will read them all.
Continuing series:
Eta: Also, rightstuf is having a sale for Dark Horse, I'm tempted by Clover Omnibus and 3 volumes of Red String. Is there any series that are recommended? They seem to have lots of bloody stuff and adventures...
