I enjoyed reading the Yuri review you linked, except they're totally wrong about all the cons they brought up. :) While I can allow that some viewers would be more sensitive to the weight and name-calling issue than I am, JJ is AWESOME end of story, and I honestly like the Crispino siblings a lot (not just because I was biased from the start with Michele having Hak's voice actor... (they sound pretty different though, haha)) and think that for a usually-creepy trope it was handled really sweetly. It made me tear up :) (and then I really did cry and cry at the end of that episode.)
Have you seen the translations of interviews and things collected here? https://whiteboxtreasure.wordpress.com/index/yuri-on-ice-masterpost/ Lots of interesting reading that I'm enjoying (especially since I don't normally get to see this kind of content in English for most things I read/watch)!
Also I bought the first two volumes of Again!! by Mitsurou Kubo (co-creator of Yuri on Ice) with my last Kino order........ It's about a cheer squad! (it's also a Kodansha series HMMMM.) I picked it because it was shounen manga so it has furigana :D Only just started to read it.
