I think the "different covers" are just the packaging/case that the book+CD/DVD come with (the book inside will have the same cover as non-special-edition. I got a vol of Tenshi 1/2 Houteishiki with drama cd and it was like this) but extra art, all the same (and cute Yona-Hak art at that)-yay!! Also Shin-ah cover, yay :D Also did you see the drawings Kusanagi-sensei posted on twitter the other day (for Hak's bday, august 9? (only easily remembered because she chose the date based on the spelling of his name, ha=8 and ku=9. just so you know i'm not THAT crazy-obsessive...)?? She drew the characters in the modern day, haha :D

Skip cover is pretty. Not sure if it's something that'll be reflected in the content because the covers are frequently total fantasy, but who knows. Ahh, my Kinokuniya order just shipped today! So I have to come up with another order already next month. (latest kino order, in case you wondered: Tea Prince, Hirunaka no Ryuusei, Kaze Hikaru, Koi dano, Takane to Hana, Snow White)

Mondays make me happy for Snow White too, except I usually forget about it until evening and then it's a surprise. I'm watching on Hulu so a week behind, but I've been rereading the manga so in that I'm way ahead in the story. It's so good. (ep6 annoyed me a little because the art looked off in a couple spots and they CHANGED THINGS how dare they! I know I'm being silly but I loved that for Yona the anime didn't change, like, anything, and here even if it's just editing out a few quiet moments here and there, those quiet moments are part of what I love about the series and what give it the great atmosphere it has, so... anyway, it's still a pretty good adaptation of an excellent manga :) )

""different covers" are just the packaging/case that the book+CD/DVD come with"
You think so? Don't Yona 9 and 15 have different covers? Anyway, I'm happy that Shin-ah and chipmunk are on cover this time :) I guess White Snake is on 20? I thought I saw a list of characters' birthdays and Kusanagi explained their birthdays were based on their names :) and Soo-won's Feb 3rd: here I'm stalking Kusanagi's twitter :) I'm obsessed :P The birthday for Haku is so funny :) I hope it's included in the book.
"the covers are frequently total fantasy"
I'm sure it's pure fantasy :) The story's ending is nowhere in sight yet.
I have to wait until evening Monday as well - boo. Do tell what changes in ep6, you mean the part where Izana summoned Shirayuki to be his scribe? I think there'll be a problem if the anime follows the manga closely like Yona, the spacing for Shirayuki is so slow the first 6 volumes. No actions at all until the pirate arc, and a lot of people dropped the series because they ran out of patience :( I was very closed to dropped it, too!
Thanks for sharing the kino order list :) I'm hoping when I go to Kino next week Koi Dano 9 is available, and Takane to Hana 2. I'm jealous that you have Snow White 14 already!!!!! French #12 is next week!

I think the different art for Yona 9 and 15 were also packaging, not book covers. If you look at the art, they have different proportions (book, cd)-the CD one is wider (referring to Tenshi 1/2 again, there's a posterboard case with art, a plastic dvd-size case with the matching art and the disc inside, and cardboard filler to fit the book in the case next to the disc). The different editions of Last Game are the only HtY books I can think of where they actually sold with two different covers. (however, there are the occasional bonus-covers that come as prizes with the magazine: I got a few of those. Snow White had one for v7, and there's another one with the Sept LaLa issue (out in a couple days, I already ordered :) ), for v14 i guess? I'm excited to see the bonus cover for v21 next!! (that's a joke, haha. though i wouldn't mind if it did run for 21 volumes... or more...)

The ep6 changes: yeah, there was the scribe thing I was disappointed not to see (mainly because that was a part I preferred to skim in Japanese since I couldn't understand most of the conversation, so I would have liked to read subtitles of it. heh.) but the beginning was a little different too. They introduced her work uniform already (didn't happen till vol8 and this is still in vol2) which I'm guessing is to make it easier on the animators than having to design a new outfit for her every appearance. But still that meant she didn't get dressed up fancy before seeing Izana, boo (and I really really reaaaaally like all the dresses and outfits everyone wears so I'm a little sad at the prospect of seeing fewer of them animated and in colour). I also thought Zen's reaction when he first saw her in the uniform was pretty weird. Like, there was nothing that shocking about the uniform itself but he got all surprised and blushed?? (the whole meeting was subtly different in the manga: it showed them already chatting (which gives a more relaxed feel than if she just walks by, he startles, they chat for a minute and then dash off), and the other apprentice came by and didn't realize who Zen was, which led to a nice exchange about how Shirayuki sees him as both her friend and the prince, and the roles aren't exclusive.) They also cut a scene where papers go flying everywhere and Izana helps collect them (before officially meeting with Shirayuki) but I didn't have strong feelings on that. Otherwise, the meeting with Raj just seemed kind of rushed up to (like was it the same day or what?!) where the manga allowed for some time to pass, even if just with a simple "20 days later..."

After all that... I do know it's impractical for the anime to follow the manga exactly in every case, and I know people got impatient watching Yona too, even though that's more dramatic. It's just reestablishing that I am and forever will be a manga-purist :) (also shows the danger of reading the source material too close to watching the adaptation: if I could've been patient, I might have been happier rereading after watching.) Enjoy v12 when you get it!! I don't have 14 quite yet, it'll probably be another week till it arrives.

"... not book covers"
That's good then, I don't feel deprived not having them ;) I'm hoping that the author will get to do an art book (not a freebie one given out in magazine) I vaguely remember the extra cover for vol 7, is it with chibi characters?
Now that you detailed the differences (Thanks for typing them out during your busy schedule), I will have to reread the series from the beginning in waiting for volume 12.

"i wouldn't mind if it did run for 21 volumes... or more..."
Me, neither. It doesn't seem that the story will end soon, now with the anime, it'll be more popular and likely to be longer :D

"It's just reestablishing that I am and forever will be a manga-purist :)"
Just like an adaptation movie of a book is never living up to the original material :) Also, I've read somewhere (maybe ANN) that anime is often a segue to get more readers for the series (paraphrasing here.)

Yeah, the v7 bonus cover shows some of the fairy tale characters that the Snow White cast parodied on the title pages (starting with Cinderella-Shirayuki and Fairy Godmother-Zen in v1). I don't know whether the new bonus cover will match it or be something different! (by the way, i just scanned that cover so I will email some pictures to you.) Rereading the series is never a bad idea! And I'd love an artbook of her work. That goes without saying for pretty much any artist or series I like, but this one really is exquisite.

That seems to be true about anime series mainly being made to bring more fans to the source material, since so many are only one or two (if lucky) seasons and can't be expected to fit the whole story.
