Baby Steps, Dark Rising 1, Harry Potter 6, Voice Over, and My Love Story

Oct 14, 2014 12:53

    1. Anime: All watching on CrunchyRoll
    2. Baby Steps - epi 12-25 - the end of season 1
      - Ei-chan's road to pro tennis, determination and hellish training, mistakes and triumphs.
      - I had thought he would turn around and won that match, but it was decided unfairly.
      - I hope that Crunchyroll will stream season 2.
      - Chibi characters are cute.
    1. Chapter Book:
    2. The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson
      - borrowed from BPL.
      - Read by Steven Crossley
      - Switch back and forth between present days experiences of a 100-year-old man and his past - spanning world history from WWW I to present day.
      - other people's lives.
      - Fun and interesting listen/read
    3. Under Sea, Over Stone by Susan Cooper
      - downloaded from APL, oneClick.
      - Read by Alex Jennings
      - very good adventure, twists and turns.
    4. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince by K.J. Rowling
      - Borrowed from APL, Overdrive.
      - Read by Jim Dale.
      - Harry as a teenager is a bit annoying!
      - I hope that the scene he had seen from Snape's memory is elaborated in the next book on why Snape and James were enemies.
      - Romance is sorted out at the end. At some points, the story has become a soap opera. UGH!
    1. Manga:
    2. Voice Over!: Seiyu Academy 7 by Maki Minami - viz app
      - I couldn't wait for sale nor borrowing from lib!
      - Hime/Shiro continues struggling on her path on being a voice actor.
      - Hime and the girls are cute in Yukata.
      - There are funny parts. Poor Kudo, not much screen times!
      - Mizuki!
      - I reread 1-7 again 2 times!
    3. My Love Story 2 story by Kazune Kawahara and art by Aruko - viz app
      - see above!
      - I really like Takeo's and Suna's friendship. They are supporting each other. And Yamato is so cute and very supportive of their friendship.
      - Messages on Takeo's white t-shirt on Yamato's birthday are so awesome. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't notice it until the last one when he talked to the doctor, so I went back and checked/found all the messages. So cool.
      - I reread a couple of times, too.
    • NYCC manga announcements that I'm interested in:
    • via ANN, Viz licensed So Cute It Hurts!! (Kobayashi ga Kawai Sugite Tsurai!!) by Gō Ikeyamada, currently 7 volumes ongoing, twins, cross-dressing, the art is cute. I'm there.
    • via ANN, Yen licenses Chaika: The Coffin Princess story by Ichiro Sakaki, the author of Scrapped Princess, and art by Shinta Sakayama, Crunchyroll streams the anime season 1 and 2, I'll check it out. It also rereleases Emma in hardcover omnibus, I wonder if it's new translation or the Japanese collector's version. I'm hoping Yen will license Shirley as well, I saw #2 is out in Japan
    • via ANN, Kodansha USA licensed L♥DK by WATANABE Ayu, 15 volumes ongoing, I'm on the fence on this one, maybe borrow from library first, and Tsubasa: WoRLD CHRoNiCLE by CLAMP, I'm looking forward reading this one.
    • For detailed write-ups/summaries on NYCC may be of interests, from A Case Suitable for Treatment: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4
  • I picked up Koi Dano Ai Dano 8 when I went to Kino yesterday, unfortunately Yona 15 is out of stock. I was surprised.
