Selfishness

Was Googling for info about Bonnie Bailey's "Ever After" when I stumbled upon a blog where the comments ran along the lines of "Great, now they're playing house in mainstream", and "Dapat sa Embassy lang pinapatugtog yan!". Basically, these music snobs wanted to keep this wonderful song all to their club-hopping selves.
While some of the comments gave a solid argument that mass appreciation was limited just to "Ever After", and not to house music in general, mostly it just boiled down to kadamutan. This song is ours. No one else deserves to hear it. Only we could ever understand this song and its genre.

Gimme a break people! You sound just like the open-source software geeks who, after you approach them for help about Linux, sneer at you and reply, "Read The Fucking Manual". And that's so sad, because I think more people would be supportive of OSS if the grassroots community were more accomodating to everyday users who've grown up knowing just Windows. Responses like RTFM definitely give the impression that OSS is "for geeks, by geeks".
Same thing with "Ever After". So it's supposed to be a "for clubbers, by clubbers" thing. I say let it loose on the airwaves for all it's worth. It's a good intro to the house genre, and those snooties who are screaming "Exclusivity!" should realize that the song's popularity is an opportunity for pop-weary people to expand their horizons, genre-wise.

Besides, if the only thing that made you feel special in the past was that "Ever After" was your anthem long before it was popular, that makes you look like one sorry loser with no redeeming qualities to speak of.
