Unfortunately, the case that it was decided on seems to really be in the best interest of the community. From what I have seen, it is a development that I would generally get behind. The problem is the means being pursued, the precedent that this sets for projects that are really only in some people's best interest and not the community's. Eminent domain has long since been used in this manner, private property taken for the development of other private property that is seen to serve the community in some way. However, since it was a stretch of the law, it was done sparingly and judiciously. But now it is clearly constitutional.

But, the battle isn't over, and there could be some satisfying irony to be had.

I am not sure if I'm understanding exactly what you're getting at with this comment. Could you please explain?

It just goes to show how flawed the enactment of the system has become. Decisions are made along political ideologies and not based on the principles of law. To look to this system in its fallen state, in fact to contribute to its fall by only further politicizing it, cannot lead to a true solution.
