Not the sort of bodies who govern the Olympics, but the sorts of bodies that perform in them.
This photo essay at the New York Times Magazine is fascinating; it consists of portraits of Olympic athletes from a variety of sports and provides some physical stats on each one. It astonishes me that somebody can have a 4,000 calorie per day diet and have like 4 percent body fat. These are unique and impressive individuals.
I also really liked this quote from cyclist Sarah Hammer, as I think it works just as well for belly dancers as for cyclists: "My punch comes from my thighs and my glutes. I always say that it’s my butt that gets me there." :-)
