maviscruet moved there four weeks ago and hasn't managed to find a nice group to drink with. I know there was a Wednesday pub group and that it was dying out. Any chance of a bit of a revival?
The bar were we most often meet is Brown's on Jordan Well. It's nice of a lunchtime, but kind of noisy in the evenings so we used to pick whichever pub had good real ale, decent landlords and no constant music - never a very wide choice in this town. I don't know where would be good any more, though I know people who might.
I like beer but I live 6 miles out from the city centre so it's relatively unimportant to me for evening meeting unless I have a lift. Apart from good beer I like good conversation and good food. I no longer like dancing/clubbing. I like to go to the pictures or theatre occasionally. Sometimes I go to the big classical concerts at Warwick Arts (about once a month in the autumn to spring, but not always music I want to pay £20 to hear). And that about exhausts the possibilities for Coventry of an evening - it's one of the least lively cities I know.
The Wednesday pub group died out several years ago now. Even seeing anyone at Browns of a Saturday lunchtime is down to once every few months.

For me the twin problems are not knowing people and being out of the city everyweekend until the end of time....
