I started work this week. Work brings out the Marxist in me. We're doing this study about museums and how people use information...VERY subjective. I'm worried that there will be a helluva lot of problems with it. They told us about how important our jobs are for the project, and I was like "hmmm...if they're so important, why am I only paid $8 an hour". Last year...I had the most Marxist moment of my life there. I was just calling and calling and calling and getting no interviews, and was hating my life, and I was like "I just wish there was a heaven, cause this sucks ass". You know...opiate of the masses. Then I had to go through training again even though I already know all the stuff, which kind of annoyed me, but I guess it's money without doing anything. They also don't have their shit together really...but oh well. Some of the people I know still work there, so I will at least be able to gab and gossip.
Speaking of religion, why did I take Bible as Literature? The bible...for the most part...is boring and repetitive, with some exceptions like the Sermon on the Mount. I got through Genesis basically by singing songs from the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Reading Numbers I was like...wise up you Hebrews, and stop complaining so God doesn't keep killing you, because it's getting a little annoying reading the same shit over and over again. No offense to my Jewish friends...I can see why it would be interesting if it was your personal, religious, and cultural history. And those quizzes - are hard! I failed the first one completely, and got like 50% on the most recent one. Like I'm supposed to know what he'll quiz on from 50 pages of reading. Gah. It's also unfair since I figure the Jewish and Christian folks would already know most of the stuff on the quizzes. I think I'll survive though - retakes.
So...I walked past the protest that I helped World Can't Wait with last night. They needed the porch on the Union, and I used the defunct SIS account to get it for them. This was before I found out they were a front group for RCP. I'm all about helping the socialists...but crazy RCP...no. The protest consisted of them banging on drums to drown out the State of the Union address. It seemed so typical of the left. Hmmm...as long as we make a lot of noise, even though it has no strategy and no point whatsoever, well...it's better than nothing. I decided to go to Primanti's instead. I'm waiting for something that seems to be going somewhere to get back involved again.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Polish culture for potato pancakes and apple sauce. Oh so good! YUMMMM!
