At a look through history, the state of a state and its beliefs have always correlated with their leaders (to a large percent) whether by choice or not. The one's, however, that have been most successful have done it through convincing the populous that they have a free will control under the regin of whichever governental power. Quite like in a game of chess where one will realize all options and play upon the next step of their opponent. The only fault for this plan is to point out to the victim that they are already inside the mouth of the fox. Moral of story:: never play chess with other peoples player, bring in your own pieces and your own rule book.
