Been a strange week for some reason. Gonna be a long weekend, too, since Bryce has made the move to South Carolina. Guess I'll actually have to work now.
Got a story idea that I really like. Already have about two double-spaced pages. Ought to be able to write some more tonight. Kinda plays with the idea of a completely subjective reality. Like, why do I have to obey physics? Why can't I fly? Why can't I take a day-trip to Pluto, or have a picnic on the moon? It's total bullshit, of course, but writing it is fun. I suppose anyone who is familiar with the Minus webcomic will recognize this idea, though that's not really where the story came from. Mostly, I had little dialogues with myself like, "I didn't agree to be born into this country, I never signed a contract or anything before coming into this deal, why should the rules apply to me?" Now, that's not to be subversive or anything, it's just an amusing little what-if scenario. Then I thought of a character who asked similar questions of herself. "It was not my choice to come into this Universe. Why should any of its rules apply to me?"
Now that I think about it, though, that's not quite the story's origin, it was just a justification for the recurring scene: guy wakes up in the middle of the night and a girl is looking into the window of his third story apartment. I'm really excited about finishing this one. Gonna try to finish it by the 22nd so I can submit to Beanswitch. Don't think my pirate lesbian story would be appropriate for the magazine.
