November Wedding

Nov 12, 2006 20:17

So began the loooooooong drive down to Southeastern Virginia for a close friend/coworker's wedding. We took Friday off from work in order to get a good head start on the driving. But, as all things go in VA with regard to traffic, well, of course there was traffic. Heavy traffic. And so much for the HOV lanes on I-95 South. Those were closed for some police escort for Veterans day. (Or something like that. It just seemed like the cops were driving up and down that corridor for absolutely nothing. Like they always do.) Anyhoo, the upside of the long drive through hellish traffic? The autumn leaves. They are the very reason I love Fall. The vibrant colors make me absolutely giddy.

Pardon the blurry shot--I was playing photog from a moving vehicle, after all.

Fortunately for us, we arrived at the Inn right at sundown. I can't imagine trying to find this place in the dark, because first of all, there were all of three street lamps on the entire drive down. Next, it seemed like just the place the Headless Horseman might come charging at you at any moment. Lastly, if you held your hand in front of your face in the dark of night, you would not be able to see it. Yes, folks, it was that dark.

Oopsie, sorry folks... I'll contine this shpiel in a bit. One of my shows is about to come on.
