Considering going to a single-comment-thread model

Since one of the options claims that you never follow links to dreamwidth, and I figure for some people that's actually true, I'm replicating this poll by hand. Apparently crossposting polls doesn't work quite as smoothly as it could.

Somewhere between "still read comments..." and "might occasionally read comments...", really. Like, probably not wander over there every time, but would still comment if I did.

I do feel compelled to point out that since your 'Great Migration' post, you have more comments here than there.

It is true that over here still seems to be more lively. I think I'll continue to let discussion be wherever for now, and we'll see what the future brings.

Mostly, I am kind of annoyed at LJ management, so it feels philosophically good to have a presence elsewhere.

I don't have dreamwidth, and after poking at your journal it looks like quite a few of your recent-ish posts didn't actually appear in my flist here on eljay.

What makes that seem to be the case? (I am interested in troubleshooting it if crossposting goes wrong).

You can log in to dw using your lj account, it's just that some people find doing so annoying.

The real answer is that I'm less likely to read them, and I don't currently follow links, but I still might. Also, if I wanted to comment, the openid issue is easy for mt. The "number of comments" image in the x-post helps.

Showing my ignorance here: If one does not have a dreamwidth account, how does one comment on entries there?

Yes. Dreamwidth (and several other sites) use this thing called "openid" that will allow faerieboots.livejournal.com to log in (asking LJ to verify that you're you, not transmitting your password to DW) and comment. You can just set it up once and tell it to keep you logged in, and it mostly works as smoothly as commenting on a native LJ entry.

Yeah, because it is apparently not smooth enough yet, I'm going to leave valid comment threads in both places for now until it *is* smooth enough.

I've had openid flake out on me a few times and not let me log in to comment on dreamwidth. Sometimes I can't even view other people's comments on cross-posted entries because of openid flaking out. So I'd try to read and comment the same amount that I would otherwise, but I'm not going to try to troubleshoot openid when it doesn't work.
