I feel like being (semi-)bilingual gives me an odd overlay to my understanding of the world. Sometimes an English word will sound a lot like an unrelated Hebrew one, and I'll realize that the meaning of the word in English has been subtly colored by the Hebrew word.

For example, melithiel translates a series of Japanese novels over at toshosen_tsl. The "tsl" there stands for "translation", but I end up hearing it pronounced in my head as צל, Hebrew for "shadow". So it's the "shadow" of the real novel, and this has since influenced my understanding of the full word "translation". I also associate it with לצלצל, "to ring", though that hasn't affected my understanding of the word quite as much, just the onomatopoeia in my head of the post to that community happening every day.
