Yes, I am at last back in teh 'Ham! But I think I've seen all of you in the relative vicinity at least once, so that hopefully isn't terribly shocking news to anyone.
Anyhoo, I managed to stumble upon this apparently little known venue in Southside known as
Bottletree Cafe over on 3rd Ave S. And it seems they've managed to seduce a fair number of nationally touring bands to stop in our fair city. I think I'm going to check out
deadboy & the Elephantmen there on Tuesday if anyone's interested in coming out. I would liken them to the same sort of bluesy rock The White Stripes have most recently made famous, but unlike Jack White, Dax Riggs can actually sing and it tends a bit more toward the soulful side of things. Should that not strike your fancy, Bright Black Morning Jacket are coming in early July and The Blackheart Procession a bit later in the month. Both of which should be fantastic. They even claim to have shows tentatively booked through August and beyond featuring Shellac, Final Fantasy, Jose Gonzalez (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), Minus the Bear, Rogue Wave, and a slew of other bands I'd never have thought would ever play a show here. I'm glad someone's on top of things.
