I don't think anything could make Jess prouder. Dee has taken all of Jess's own mistakes, and learned from them, and grown into a fine man and a great cop. He's seen the dark side, and the devastation it can cause, and it gives him such powerful motivation to protect others from it.

That is really beautifully put, and I agree. Dee has become a much better man because of Jess's influence, and Mother's faith, and Arnon's death. He's learned from them all
