Sometimes, Jack is just not the sharpest tack in the box, is he? And he always goes for the flash, like gambling all night in a neon-lit resort. I think he doesn't really know Ianto all that well sometimes. Showy ostentation isn't the way, I would say. :)

He just wants to show Ianto the glamour of the universe, while showing Ianto off, but he's quick to realise that Ianto's idea is much more appealing, so he does learn sometimes.

He's just overconfident. Maybe he forgets that earth vehicles, no matter how well made and enhanced with alien tech they might be, still have their limitations.

Thank you!

And he wants to show Ianto to the universe . As the old quote says, "Come into the garden I want the roses to see you."

He's very quick to admit when Ianto has the better idea, and no too proud to indulge him. Of course, even after all this time he doesn't make allowances for Welsh weather

It's a typical British trait - no matter what the weather's like, we're never prepared for it even when we know it's coming and we always think it won't be as bad as the forecaster's say. It's a peculiar sort of optimism and short-sightedness. Jack is no different than the rest of us.

Jack will always indulge Ianto whenever possible. And indulge IN Ianto too ;)

Of course Jack wants to show Ianto off - who wouldn't?

Just had to chip in with another quote. "There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes."

LOL! I haven't heard that one before. Brits are always dressed wrong then ;)

And British Rail once blamed delays on 'the wrong kind of snow'.

This is so true about earth vehicles, even when you don't try to take them into outerspace. I'm not sure Ianto's all that thrilled about being 'shown off', but yes, Jack does learn eventually. Good story.

He probably wouldn't be, but Jack is proud of Ianto, it's only natural ;)

Our tech isn't up to alien standards. Sorry, Jack.
