I've been making Christmas cards....

Nov 27, 2012 15:48

As some of you already know, I decided to make my Christmas cards this year - nothing too elaborate, just die-cut shapes stuck on cards with a few embellishments, but I'm quite pleased with the results.

Here's what I've made so far....

Ask and you shall receive ;)

Any preferences?

I am having so much fun with these - the next batch is going to be more baubles (they're already planned out), then I have a few robins to use, and I want to make some cards with penguins and snowmen 'cause I just got some cute little snowmen and a few bigger ones. I've got little santa and reindeer heads too, but I haven't figured out the best way to use them yet. I love making cards =D

A robin it is then!

I'm useless at practical things - I'm not a good cook, and I can just about sew on a button and if pushed, hem a pair of trousers but I've always loved arty things. When I was about 9 I sold something mum and I had designed and made at the school summer fair - we called them Frizzles and they sold really well. I've been making stuff one way or another almost all my life.

These are absolutely gorgeous!

The penguins are adorable, and the flowering trees are simply beautiful. You must have put so much work into these!

Well, not really - I buy the bits and pieces ready cut, then decide how I want to arrange them and glue them in place, lol! Tha hardest part is gluing - it's frustrating when you can't get any glue out so you squeeze harder and end up with too much! My most vaulable tool has turned out to be a plactic cocktail stick, great for dabbing glue, spreading glue and poking into the nozzle of the glue container to unblock it.

I adore the penguins, I've bought so many in different coloured hats and scarves because they work so well with other things and they're so cute =) I'm doing penguins with snowmen soon.

OMG these are amazing! I don't even want to know how long it's taken you to sort all of those out! They are great! I love the tree ones! :-)

Thank you! I've been making somewhere between 3 and 6 most days. The gluing is a bit fiddly at times, some of the die cuts are very fine, but the things you can get off ebay are amazing. I can't afford a die-cutting machine and all the dies, but I can get as many already cut out trees and things as I want and the variety available is amazing. I think I got a little bit carried away, I probably have enough to make cards for the next 5 years!

Heh... Nothing wrong with having cards for the foreseeable future :D I generally buy custom cards (with my own photos and such)... Seriously considering buying 100 next time - it's cheaper, and since there are four or five different photos, chances of everybody getting the same card a few years in a row are acceptable...

That's less labour-intensive too. I spent yesterday doing the insides of the cards for all our neighbours and local friends, now they just have to be written, but it's taken ages to get that far and I've barely had time to write a drabble the last couple of weeks. I'll be glad when Christmas is behind me in a lot of ways, it disrupts everything!

WOW! So creative. I like the one with the green Santa Claus sledge in Tannenbaum Trees the most.
You don´t have to send me a card.
I just wanted to comment because I love creative stuff so much and you do lots of it. LOTS!!!
*hugs*

Thank you! I only had enough of the glittery santa sleighs and bits for 2 cards, but I like the results!

I do love crafts, and I love trying new things. This is my first time making all my Christmas cards, but I was inspired by all the bits and pieces on ebay and I'm having so much fun planning them out. The only thing I don't like is that the nozzles on my glues keep getting blocked so I spend half my time unblocking them!

LOL! I have the feeling that all nozzles on all glues do that. I know the problem very well. ;) Drives me crazy every time.

These are all amazing!
So pretty and creative!
They are all fantastic, but my favourites are the penguins because they are just so cute and the flowering trees because they are beautiful and I've never seen anything like them before.

Thank you! They're all die-cut shapes I picked up on ebay - there are so many kinds, I just keep buying more! I adore the penguins, I've bought so many it's ridiculous, but they look so cute and they're really versatile.

They flowering trees are incredibly delicate and fragile, so I have to be extra careful gluing them, it takes a steady hand and mine often aren't, so I only work with those when I'm calm and relaxed.

I have your address so I'll send you something pretty if you don't have a particular preference!
