Summary: It’s hard not to panic when someone you love is injured.

A/N: Triple drabble.
The number one rule when someone was injured was not to panic, which was easy enough to say but almost impossible to do. Dee had gone down hard, and was bleeding, but Ryo couldn’t tell how badly, and he couldn’t get to his partner without putting his own life at risk.
Backup was on the way, but still a few minutes out, and for all he knew, the man he loved could be dying. Maybe this was why romantic relationships between partners were still being discouraged, even though the regs had been relaxed over the past few years. Knowing his lover’s life was on the line made it difficult to focus on the job at hand.
All Ryo could do was send up a silent prayer, focus his attention on the gunman, and try to take him down before anyone else got hurt, or worse. Still, he spared a glance at Dee, needing to see.
Across the other side of the street, tucked behind the car he was using for cover, Dee gave him the thumbs up. Ryo couldn’t be sure whether that meant Dee was okay, or if he was just putting a brave face on things, but there was no point in dwelling. His lover was alive, and still conscious, so that was good.
Ruthlessly shoving his concern for Dee to the back of his mind, Ryo drew on his sniper training, concentrating on calming his breathing. Gradually his racing heartbeat slowed, and his trembling hands grew steady. He had a job to do, and he would do it.
The gunman opened fire again, Ryo counted down, and darted from cover, firing twice.
Got him!
Approaching, Ryo kicked the gun away from the injured man as backup arrived. Once the shooter was in custody, he’d see to Dee.
