“It’s not normal, Ianto,” Rhiannon insisted. “Look, you’re my baby brother, and you know I love you, right? But when you left here you said you wanted to make something of yourself, do something with your life, have a good career, and for a while there, I really thought you would. You had a good job in an office, and a lovely girlfriend. Whatever happened to her?” Rhiannon waved her hand as if to brush away her last comment. “Then you just turn up back here, single, living in Cardiff, and working in a poky little tourist information kiosk. What sort of life is that?”
Ianto sighed. He really didn’t want to explain any of this to his sister, but he knew she wouldn’t let it go. She’d keep badgering him until he told her what she wanted to know.
“You couldn’t wait to get away from Wales. Why’d you quit your fancy London job and come back here? Did that Lisa dump you?”
“No, Rhi.” Ianto closed his eyes, memories swamping him. “Lisa died, and I didn’t quit my job. The tower was ground zero in the terrorist attack last year. I lost everything, that’s why I came home.”
