“He’s perfect!” Drusilla said, clasping her hands and bouncing on her toes. Her eyes were sparkling, and Spike thought she’d never looked lovelier.
“Anything to make you happy, my sweet,” he assured her smoothly. Collecting the parts hadn’t been easy, tracking them to every corner of the earth where they’d been scattered and buried centuries before, arranging to have them brought to Sunnydale for assembly. Still, the effort had been worth it, if only to see the delighted excitement on Dru’s face. She did love surprises.
The Judge loomed over them both, imposingly massive, muscular, armoured, and very blue. He seemed considerably less impressed with them than they were with him, but who cared? They were in charge, they’d put him back together, so big blue would just have to do what they told him. That wasn’t open to argument.
“You two stink of humanity. You share affection and jealousy.”
“What of it?” Wheelchair or not, Spike wasn’t going to be intimidated by a giant Smurf. He was their prize, their tool, and once he was recharged, they’d wield him to devastating effect. First the Slayer and Angel, then all Buffy’s little friends, then the world. Nothing could stop them.
