Summary: Nosy has a place in the Hub that no one else knows about.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Triple drabble.
By the time it had been with Torchwood for a year, Nosy had explored every accessible inch of the Hub, all the way from the tourist office to the main Hub, including the steps and catwalks leading to Myfanwy’s eyrie, and down to the lowest levels that were in use.
There were places it preferred not to go, including several rather damp areas and a room at the end of one dimly lit corridor that was blanketed by a suffocating aura of pain and despair, mingled with a faint smell of blood, but it knew its way around even better than Ianto. Indeed, it had even shown its friend several secret passages it had discovered, and a room where the walls were lined with shelves full of crystals and seashells from other planets. It was pretty, and Nosy liked to go there sometimes just to look at all the sparkly things.
But there was one place it never disclosed to any of its friends, a hole hidden behind tall, built in shelves, which led to a cosy, dry cave. That was where Nosy disappeared to whenever the Flufflet it was growing was ready to separate.
Separation wasn’t a difficult process, not like the birthing of human young, but it was best carried out in peace and quiet, so the Flufflet could grow accustomed to no longer being part of its parent, and to thinking for itself. Being in close proximity to too many other thoughts and emotions could be confusing for a youngster that didn’t yet know how to shield its mind. Flufflets needed time to learn what to ‘listen’ to and what to ignore. Earth could be a very noisy place.
Satisfied that the new Flufflet was ready, Nosy led it up to the Hub to meet its humans.
