A/N: Double drabble.
“First it was the elevator in our buildin’ and now this!” Dee complained.
Ryo couldn’t blame him. Crime scene locations were as varied as the crimes themselves, and this wasn’t the first rooftop they’d had to visit, but even though the buildings in this part of the city weren’t towering skyscrapers, they weren’t four-storey brownstones either. Walking up fourteen flights of stairs was no joke, especially in the summer heat.
But just like in Dee’s building, the elevator here was currently out of order. It wasn’t even down to the rolling brownouts that could be expected in these temperatures, when everyone was running their air-conditioning full blast. It had simply broken down and would stay that way until someone could fix it.
“At least the victim is still alive,” Ryo pointed out as they trudged back down the stairs a while later.
“Yep, so now we get to visit the hospital and interview her.”
“Look on the bright side, there’ll be working air-conditioning there.” Hospitals were exempt from the brownouts.
Dee brightened at that thought, but his cheer was short-lived.
Parched from the heat, he groaned on seeing the hospital’s drinks machine was out of order.
“Just isn’t our day.”
