“What’s that?” Dee asked when JJ dropped an envelope on his desk. It was nowhere near Christmas, or his birthday, and Valentine’s Day had been nearly three months ago. Not that JJ still gave him Valentines, that phase was long past. JJ only had one Valentine these days, and it wasn’t Dee.
“It’s an invitation, silly. I wasn’t sure whether I should put you and Ryo on one, or invite you both separately, but in the end I just did one, and since you’re here and Ryo isn’t, you get it. It is for both of you though, so don’t forget to tell him.”
“An invitation?” Maybe it was because Dee hadn’t had coffee yet, but for some reason he couldn’t get his head around why JJ would be handing out invitations. JJ’s birthday had been back in March, and Halloween was still months away. “Why?”
JJ snickered. “Someone hasn’t been getting enough sleep,” he teased. “And I bet I know why!”
“Sleep isn’t the problem,” Dee said. “I’m caffeine deprived is all. We were runnin’ late this mornin’, didn’t have time for breakfast.”
“Poor Dee. If you want to know what the invite’s for, why don’t you open it and find out?”
“Or you could just tell me, save me the effort.”
“Sometimes I don’t know how Ryo puts up with you; you’re so lazy! Here, I’ll make it easy for you.” JJ snatched the envelope back from Dee and opened it himself before handing the card across.
‘You are invited to the wedding of Jemmy J. Adams and Drake Parker’ the invitation announced in rainbow colours.
“Your wedding?”
“Oh, so you CAN read!” JJ was grinning. “I had the invitations specially made. You and Ryo will come, won’t you? It’s June first.”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
