Title: Designer Labels
Fandom: FAKE
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: JJ, Commissioner Rose.
Rating: PG
Setting: During the manga.
Summary: JJ likes to look nice, but he tries not to be too flashy.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Motif’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.

The motif on JJ’s new sweater was tiny, quite discreet, and barely noticeable, but that didn’t matter. It was there, and JJ was fully aware of its presence. If no one else saw it, why should he care? He wore designer labels for himself, not for other people, the majority of whom wouldn’t even recognise the significance.

He preferred not to be too flashy, knowing that his colleagues couldn’t afford to shop for a new designer wardrobe every season. He didn’t want people thinking that he was a show-off; it was simply that he liked to look nice, and since he could afford to buy the best, he saw no reason not to. Even for a cop, appearances mattered.

The only other person working out of the two-seven who could match JJ when it came to the cost of his clothes was Commissioner Rose, and frankly JJ thought the way he dressed was a bit ostentatious. It wasn’t so much the tailored suits, silk ties, and cashmere sweaters, it was the expensive Rolex, the gold and diamond cufflinks, and the silk pocket square painstakingly arranged so that the label was clearly visible.

JJ hoped he was never quite so gauche.

The End
