“What the Hell happened to you lot?” Jack asked, looking at his bedraggled team as they trailed into the Hub, damp and dripping mud. He could only imagine Ianto’s reaction when he came up from the archives and saw the mess they were leaving in their wake.
“Don’t blame us,” Tosh said, pushing past her two colleagues and heading for the stairs leading to the locker room. “It was entirely Owen’s fault. We tried to tell him it was a bad idea, but he wouldn’t listen to us. If we’d kept to the paths like we wanted to, we wouldn’t look like swamp monsters.”
Owen stopped dead, staring after his girlfriend in disbelief. “I can’t believe you’d grass me out! Where’s the loyalty?”
“Somewhere at the bottom of that muddy wallow you dragged us into, along with what we went out there to collect. The only way we’re getting THAT back is with one of those bulldozer digger things.”
“If she hadn’t told on you, I would’ve,” Gwen snapped, stalking after Tosh, and leaving Owen dripping where he stood.
“Everyone’s ganging up on me!” he complained.
“Sounds like you deserve it,” Jack said. “Guess who’ll be cleaning up this mess.”
