“Owen!” Jack shouted, rushing out of his office as Torchwood’s medic arrived for work. “Thank God you’re finally here!” He looked, and sounded, more panicked than Owen had ever seen him.
“Yeah, I’m here. What’s up?”
“It’s Ianto!”
Which figured, since in Owen’s opinion, Jack was unlikely to get so freaked out about anyone else. “What’s the teaboy done this time?”
“It’s not his fault, you have to help him!”
“Tell me what happened.”
“There was a Rift alert, sometime early this morning. It woke us up. I would’ve gone on my own, but Ianto said it would probably be quicker with two, and when we got to the coordinates, there was this thing… Don’t know what it was, but it attacked Ianto, and then it vanished.”
“And you didn’t call me?” Now Owen was annoyed. Whenever something happened to a member of the team, he was to be called right away!
“He seemed fine, no damage that I could see. We came back here, went to bed, and this morning… Well, he’s laying eggs!” Jack held an egg out for Owen’s inspection.
“Eggs? I’ll need to analyse that right away!”
Jack started laughing. “Gotcha! April Fool!”
Owen groaned. “Bastard!”
