A/N: Double drabble.
Rounding up Rift arrivals was difficult enough in good weather, but in the current icy conditions it was a nightmare of risking life and limb. Drivers were advised to reduce speed on account of hazardous road conditions, but being on foot was in some ways even worse. Every wrong step, every patch of black ice, could result in a nasty fall. Ianto was slipping and slithering all over the place.
The creature he was chasing wasn’t having any such difficulties; the sharp claws tipping its broad feet gave it the ability to grip the slippery surface in a way that the soles of Ianto’s shoes couldn’t hope to match. It bounded easily up the steps while Ianto only managed a quarter of the flight before one foot shot out from under him, making him stumble and half fall, the edges of several steps grating painfully across his shin.
At the top of the steps, the creature stopped, looking back to where Ianto stood clutching his injured leg. Then to his surprise, it bounded back to him, whimpering apologetically.
“Thought we were playing a game, did you?”
The fuzzy blue alien waggled its ears.
“How about we go play somewhere safer?”
