Carols rang out from the radio, filling the apartment with festive cheer. Ryo had turned it on and tuned it to a suitably festive station as soon as he and Dee had gotten in from work, although Dee had persuaded him to leave making the eggnog they’d been talking about on the way home until later. Decorating the Christmas tree while tipsy didn’t seem like a wise idea, as it was quite tall, and they’d need to use the stepladder or stand on a chair to reach the top branches. For the sake of safety, he’d decided anything that might affect their sense of balance would be better saved for after they were done. Even Ryo couldn’t argue with that.
Dee had set their tree upright in its tub while Ryo had fetched the boxes of decorations from the top shelf in the closet, and they’d spent the next couple of hours singing along with the songs they knew and happily arguing over which decoration should go where. Decorating a Christmas tree was so much more fun when you didn’t have to do it all by yourself.
Now, with it almost finished, they stood back and studied their masterpiece. “Looks pretty good, though I say so myself,” Dee said with satisfaction. The baubles, tinsel, and lights were evenly distributed, the tree didn’t look overloaded, or in danger of toppling over… Yep, that would do.
“It’s beautiful,” Ryo agreed. “All that’s left is to put the star on the top. Do you want to do that or shall I?”
“You do the honours; I’ll make sure ya don’t fall off the steps.”
“I’ll be perfectly fine, Dee, it’s not like I’ve never used a stepladder before.” Star in hand, Ryo started up the steps.
“Doesn’t hurt to take precautions.” Dee rested a steadying hand on Ryo’s butt. “Most accidents happen around the home, y’know, and I don’t want anything happenin’ that could spoil first Christmas livin’ together.”
“Sure it’s not just an excuse to grope me?” Ryo teased, reaching up to set the star in place.
“That too,” Dee admitted, smirking up at his lover. “Can ya blame me?”
“You’re impossible,” Ryo chuckled as he backed down the steps, Dee’s hand still firmly attached to his ass like it was glued there until he was safely back on the ground.
“But I’m very lovable, right?” Dee winked at his partner. “I’ll put the steps away; you get the boxes.”
Ryo raised an eyebrow. “You’re not going to suggest we take a break before doing that?” Dee was always happy to leave clearing up until later, or never if he could get away with it.
“I thought about it, but if we leave this stuff lyin’ around all over the floor, odds are one of us is bound to trip over somethin’. Accidents in the home, remember? I figure we might as well tidy up right away, ‘cause then we’ll have the rest of the evenin’ to ourselves.”
Ryo smirked, amused. “Never thought I’d see the day you’d put housework first!”
“Maybe I just decided to get a head start on my New Year resolution.”
“We’ll see how long that lasts.” Ryo knelt down and started packing the unused decorations back into the various boxes.
“Nice to know ya have so much faith in me,” Dee grumbled as he folded the stepladder.
“You’ve never kept a resolution as long as I’ve known you.”
”Hah! That’s what you think.” Returning from stowing the steps, Dee scooped up a couple of the boxes. “The year I met ya, I resolved to make you mine, no matter how long it took. Kept that one, didn’t I?”
“Alright, yes, I guess you did.” Ryo picked up the rest of the boxes and followed his partner to put them back in the closet until they were needed again.
Back in the lounge, Dee turned on the tree lights then strode over to the wall switch to turn the overhead lights off. It was night beyond the windows, the streetlamps sending out a dim orange glow far below their fourth-floor apartment. A few lights gleamed in windows across the street, but Dee lowered the blinds to shut them out, leaving only the tree to provide illumination, colored bulbs flickering on and off in a rhythm all their own.
Turning from the window, he took in the scene. “Now that is a beautiful sight.”
Ryo nodded, smiling. “It’s kind of a shame we only get to enjoy it for a few short weeks. Sometimes I wish we could leave the Christmas lights up all year round.”
“I wasn’t talkin’ about the lights, babe.”
“You weren’t?” Turning to face his lover, Ryo realised Dee had his eyes fixed on him and blushed. “Oh.”
Dee moved towards him, caught him by the hand and pulled him close, slipping his arms around his lover and swaying them both to the soft music from the radio. “Dance with me, baby.”
How could Ryo refuse? ‘O Holy Night’ was playing, slow and gentle, and with the tree sparkling in the corner the setting was curiously romantic. He put up no resistance when Dee kissed him.
Neither of them noticed the song had ended until ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ abruptly blared out, shattering the mood.
“Trouble with the radio is ya never know what you’re gonna get next,” Dee laughed. “Kinda killed the mood I was goin’ for.”
“What a minute…” Ryo pulled away from Dee, frowning. “You were planning this?”
“What’s wrong with plannin’ a bit of romance with the man I love?” Dee asked, confused.
Ryo blinked, then grinned sheepishly. “Nothing, I guess. Sorry, you just took me by surprise.”
Dee grinned back, winking. “I’ll take ya any way ya want.”
“Dee!”
“I mean it, babe, just say the word.” Dee pulled Ryo back into his arms, ignoring the music, and nibbling on his partner’s earlobe. “Fact is, I’d take ya right here, right now, by the light of the tree,” he whispered. “That would be so incredibly hot.” He traced the shell of Ryo’s ear with the tip of his tongue, making his lover shiver deliciously, before kissing his way along Ryo’s jaw to his lips. “How’d ya feel about that?”
Despite Ryo’s occasional accusations, Dee was no caveman. Just because they were living together now, it didn’t mean he had the right to take what he wanted whenever he wanted it. If Ryo wasn’t in the mood, it wouldn’t be any fun; some activities worked best with two equally enthusiastic participants.
Ryo melted into Dee’s kiss for a moment before pulling away. “What’s wrong with the bedroom?”
“Nothin’, but we do that all the time. What’s wrong with here?” Dee countered. “I’d just love to see ya naked with the Christmas lights sparklin’ behind ya. Whaddaya say, feel like indulgin’ your boyfriend with a bit of festive fun?”
It was difficult to deny Dee anything when he looked at him that way, but Ryo hesitated. “Won’t the floor be a bit hard?”
That was something Dee hadn’t considered, but he shrugged. “That’s easily fixed; a duvet, a few pillows… Wouldn’t be the first time.” Dee was thinking of that night years ago in the living room of Ryo’s old apartment, when they’d made a makeshift bed on the living room floor.
The same thought crossed Ryo’s mind, making him blush again. That time it had been because Ryo was getting over a fever and the living room had been warmer than his bedroom. This time, it was all about the lighting, and really, what was there to object to? Here they were, alone in their own apartment, with the door locked and the blinds down; it wasn’t as if anyone would see them, and when Ryo thought about it, Dee naked and bathed in colored light would be a sight to see. He smiled, leaning in to kiss his lover.
“Okay, but not too close to the tree. We don’t want to knock it over or accidentally set fire to the bedding.” That would ruin everything.
“Hardly likely, the lights don’t get that hot, but I guess havin’ the tree fall on us might put a dent in the mood.”
“Never mind the mood; it would put a dent in us. It’s heavy.”
Dee chuckled. “We’ll keep at a safe distance. I’ll go get the duvet; be right back, don’t go away.”
“Where would I go?”
There was no reply; Dee had already vanished into the bedroom, but he was back almost immediately, carrying a bundle of bedding which he spread out on the floor, in the pool of light from the tree but not too close. Ryo added some of the throw pillows from the sofa, arranging them for comfort, then just stood there feeling a little awkward. Sex was usually a spontaneous thing, although most times he was sure Dee deliberately set out to seduce him. Planning ahead seemed a little odd, making sure they had lube ready, and a washcloth and towel to clean up with after. He knew he was blushing yet again as Dee knelt on the duvet grinning up at him.
“Should be comfy enough.” He patted the bedding. “Care to join me?”
Ryo knelt opposite his lover. “Now what?”
“You sure you’re okay with this?”
“Yes, of course! I’m just… It all seems a little calculated and unnatural. Are we supposed to just take our clothes off and… uh… get down to it?”
Dee laughed, warm and affectionate. “Doofus. C’mere.” He reached for Ryo and flopped against the pile of pillows, pulling his lover with him, finding his lips in a slow, sensuous kiss, before murmuring, “There’s no rush, we’ve got the whole night ahead of us. Whole of tomorrow too, even the day after if we want.” This was only the start of their two days off, and nobody was likely to interrupt them; Bikky wouldn’t be home for the holidays for another couple of weeks yet.
It was easy for Ryo to surrender to Dee’s kisses; no one had ever kissed him the way Dee did, and even after all this time he could never get enough. His initial feelings of awkwardness quickly melted away; this was familiar territory, little different from making out on the sofa, something they’d done many times.
Dee’s lips strayed from Ryo’s own, along his jaw to his ear; he knew that was one of Ryo’s major erogenous zones. Sucking on his earlobe drew a ragged moan of pleasure from Ryo’s lips and Dee lingered there for a while, feeling his partner relaxing and beginning to respond to his ministrations. Nibbling his way down the side of Ryo’s neck to the point where shoulder and neck joined, he suckled on the tender flesh, drawing blood to the surface, leaving a mark. It would be hidden by his lover’s collar when they went back to work, but Dee would know it was there, proof that Ryo was his.
Pulling back, Dee gazed down at his baby, flushed and gorgeous in the cheerfully flickering, colored lights.
“I ever tell ya how beautiful y’are?”
“More times than I can remember, but I’m still not sure I believe you.”
“Hm, I’ll haveta see what I can do to convince ya.” Reaching for the hem of his lover’s warm sweater, worn in deference to the cold December weather, he tugged it up and over Ryo’s head, tossing it towards the sofa, knowing Ryo wouldn’t appreciate him dropping it on the floor. The long-sleeved t-shirt beneath soon followed, and then Dee was pressing Ryo into the pile of pillows again, kissing him, one hand exploring smooth skin over lean muscles, fingertips tracing lightly over Ryo’s ribs and making him squirm.
“Stop that, Dee, it tickles!”
Laughing, Dee slid his hand higher and tweaked a nipple, rolling it between finger and thumb until Ryo groaned and arched into his touch. “That better?”
“You’re not playing fair!” Ryo’s fingers tangled in Dee’s sweatshirt. “And you’re wearing too many clothes.”
“That’s easily fixed.” Sitting up, Dee pulled his sweatshirt and undershirt off together, tossing them carelessly across the room, where they slid under the table.
“Keep that up and we’ll be finding stray bits of clothing in weird places for weeks,” Ryo joked.
“Stop thinkin’, babe,” Dee advised. “Just feel and enjoy. Forget about everything else.”
For Ryo, not thinking was almost impossible; his mind was always whirring. About the only time it ever completely stopped was when he was with Dee, like this. Sex short-circuited his brain, shutting it up more effectively even than physical exercise or meditation.
“Make me.” Ryo stared up at Dee, his dark eyes almost black with desire.
“With pleasure,” Dee murmured, leaning in for another kiss, his own body trembling with barely suppressed excitement. He’d had more experienced lovers in the past, had sought out skilled partners when he was younger to learn what they knew, but none of them had ever affected him the way Ryo did. Even now there was a kind of innocence about his lover, and no matter how often they made love, it always felt new.
Deeping the kiss, his tongue tangling with Ryo’s, Dee let his hands wander, touching everywhere he could reach even as he felt Ryo wrap his arms around him. One hand gripped his bicep, while the other drifted from Dee’s shoulder, down his back until Ryo’s fingertips slid beneath the waistband of his jeans. Dee moaned into his lover’s mouth; Ryo wasn’t even touching him anywhere particularly intimate, but nonetheless it sent a thrill racing through him. He wanted more, wanted to touch Ryo all over, wanted to feel skin on skin…
Rolling to one side, hating that the movement dislodged his lover’s questing fingers, Dee wrestled with his belt and the button on his jeans, practically ripping them open and struggling out of them, cursing himself for putting them on that morning instead of something easier to get out of. Yanking one leg free, he rolled back, kissing and licking his way down Ryo’s chest, reaching one-handed for his lover’s belt and tugging it open.
Ryo’s pants were thankfully looser than Dee’s jeans, easier to slide down his lover’s long legs and toss in the direction of the sofa. They fell far short, ending up draped over the coffee table, but Ryo didn’t notice, and Dee didn’t care. All that mattered was getting his baby naked, but Dee made himself take the next step a bit slower, peeling Ryo’s boxers down inch be inch, teasing them both.
“Deee!” Ryo whined, growing impatient.
Pressing a kiss to Ryo’s belly, Dee chuckled, the vibrations making his lover’s cock twitch. He eased the waistband down further to expose Ryo’s straining shaft, pressing a light kiss to the head before urging his partner’s hips up and tugging his underwear all the way off.
Sitting back on his heels, he gazed in wonder at the vision before him. In Dee’s admittedly biased opinion, Ryo was always a feast for the eyes, but now the sparkling lights gilded his pale skin, burnishing the planes of his lean body, highlighting the peaks and valleys in jewel tones: ruby, emerald, sapphire, amber, and amethyst. He was breathtaking, and Dee wanted him so badly it almost hurt.
“Damn, wanna feel ya!” Awkwardly Dee shoved his own shorts down one-handed, pulling one leg free, then toppled sideways with a curse, wrestling to extract his other leg from his jeans.
Ryo snickered. “Need some help there?”
“I can manage.” Kicking his pants away at last, Dee crawled up next to his lover and flopped down. “Free at last! See what ya do to me? Get me so turned on I can’t get naked fast enough.” He was panting from exertion.
“Poor Dee.” Even without the Christmas lights, Ryo’s eyes would have been twinkling with amusement.
Dee shook his head. “Lucky Dee, ‘cause I got everything I could ever want under the tree this year. You’re the gift that keeps on givin’ all year round. Best thing that ever happened to me.”
Blushing, Ryo reached up, pulling Dee close, smiling up at him. “I love you too,” he murmured just before their lips met in a slow, deep kiss.
The words made Dee’s heart soar; he’d never get tired of hearing them. Shifting on top of Ryo without breaking the kiss, Dee pressed their bodies together, his erection slotting neatly alongside his lover’s as if it belonged there. Both men gasped, sparks of pleasure racing through them from the intimate contact, and their hips stirred, moving without conscious thought, seeking friction.
“Oh baby, yeah, so good!” Dee breathed, thrusting convulsively; it felt incredible, their heated, silk over steel erections rubbing together, trapped between their bellies, pre-come leaking, lubricating their movements. He didn’t want to stop, wasn’t even sure he could.
Ryo’s fingers were digging into his ass, pulling Dee as close as possible, hips undulating, urging him on, and it would almost have been enough, getting off together the way they had their first long-ago night together. But at the same time, Dee wanted more, the deeper intimacy of penetration, the feel of his lover’s tight channel gripping his length, squeezing him until he exploded, completely out of control. He fumbled for the lube where he’d tucked it under the pillows.
Gripping the tube in one hand, Dee rolled them over so that Ryo was on top and flipped the cap of the bottle open with his thumbnail. Somehow, without being able to see what he was doing, he managed to pour lube into his other hand, close the bottle, and put it where they wouldn’t accidentally roll on it. Dipping two fingers in the slick liquid, he set about preparing his lover.
They weren’t in the best position for that, but Dee was determined to make it work, because otherwise he’d have to give up the delight of Ryo’s warm weight on top of him, their bodies moving together in a slow rhythm, desire increasing with every movement. He worked with as much patience as he could muster, lubricating and stretching Ryo’s entrance until he felt he couldn’t wait a moment longer.
“Ready?” he asked at last, breathless with need.
Ryo’s head nodded against his shoulder, hair tickling Dee’s neck. “Yes, please!”
“Ride me? I wanna see ya, shinin’ in the lights.”
If Dee had asked him that earlier, Ryo would have blushed scarlet, but now he was so aroused that he didn’t hesitate. Rolling off Dee, he got up on his knees, straddling his partner’s thighs and fumbling for the lube. All his earlier self-consciousness was gone; he was far too turned on to feel embarrassment. Hastily slicking Dee’s length, he shuffled forward on his knees, guided his lover’s cock into position, and slowly lowered himself onto it, breath hissing between his teeth as he felt himself filled.
Dee’s eyes had slid half-closed as he fought to control himself, the indescribable sensation of Ryo’s tightness gradually engulfing his cock coming close to tipping him over the edge, but as his lover shifted above him to sit upright, they snapped open, and his breath caught in his throat. Ryo’s pale skin was damp with perspiration, shimmering in the lights almost as if he’d been dusted in colored glitter and lit from within, the angel atop Dee’s own personal tree. If the sight hadn’t been so mesmerising, Dee might have laughed at the absurd thought. As it was, all he could do was gaze in awe, wishing his phone was within reach so he could take a photo, capture the moment forever.
Looking down at him, Ryo tilted his head to one side, concern flickering in his eyes. “Dee? Are you okay?”
“Never better, babe. Damn, wish ya could see yourself right now, then you’d never doubt how beautiful y’are. I mean it,” Dee added as Ryo flushed faintly and lowered his eyes. “You look amazin’.” He raised an eyebrow. “Gonna move anytime soon, or are ya just gonna sit there lookin’ decorative?”
In answer, Ryo slowly clenched around him, wrenching a groan from Dee’s lips.
“How’s that?”
“Keep that up and ya might just kill me.”
“That would never do.” Relaxing his muscles, Ryo braced his hands against Dee’s shoulders, where he lay propped against the mound of pillows, and slowly raised up, then sank down again, his head falling back with a sigh of pleasure. “Touch me!” he begged.
“Like this?” Dee wrapped his fingers around Ryo’s length and gave his erection a long, slow stroke, from root to tip and back again, moving in counterpoint to Ryo’s steady rise and fall.
“Aaah! Yessss!”
Head dropping forward again, Ryo locked eyes with his lover, biting his lip as he tried to keep the rhythm of his movements slow and steady. He hadn’t been sure about having sex here on the floor when they had a much more comfortable bed just a short distance away in the next room, but watching the lights dancing on Dee’s skin, he could understand why his lover had found the idea enticing. It was like making love beneath a rainbow.
Ryo leaned forward, capturing Dee’s lips in a fierce kiss, rocking forwards and back on Dee’s cock, gradually speeding his movements, ignoring the ache starting in his legs. That was unimportant compared to the delicious sensations coursing through him.
“So close, baby!” Dee gasped, hips bucking upwards as he tried to drive his cock even deeper into his lover. “God, what you do to me!”
“Faster!” Ryo urged, feeling his balls tighten. He was poised almost on a knife edge, ready to tip over the edge at any moment. “Harder!”
Releasing Ryo’s cock, Dee hooked one arm around his lover’s waist and surged upwards, tipping them over so that he was on top and could get more leverage. Then he was pounding into Ryo with such urgency, all Ryo could do was cling to his partner, riding a wave of intense pleasure every time the head of Dee’s cock brushed his prostate, sending sparks shooting through his entire body, all the way to the tips of his toes, and making his legs tremble. He could feel his cock swelling, knew he wouldn’t last much longer, and then he was coming, crying out, his back arching, warm stickiness spreading between their bellies.
With a strangled howl, Dee thrust as deep as he could get, every inch of his body straining towards release as Ryo’s channel clamped around him like a vice. One more thrust, and he joined his lover in an orgasm so intense his vision whited out.
As he came back to himself, slumped limply on top of his partner and breathing heavily, he thought he could hear angels singing, then he realised the radio was still on and he chuckled against Ryo’s neck. “For a second there, thought I’d died and gone to heaven, but it’s just some choir on the radio.”
“Ngh?” Ryo was never at his most coherent immediately after sex.
Dee brushed a kiss to his baby’s temple, eased out and flopped onto his side, pulling Ryo into his arms. “That was frickin’ spectacular.” He nuzzled Ryo’s ear.
“Gnh,” Ryo agreed, winding one arm around Dee and snuggling closer.
“Happy Christmas, babe. May the rest of the festive season be at least as much fun as tonight.”
“Mm. Mer’ Chrisms,” Ryo mumbled sleepily.
Reaching for the edge of the duvet one-handed, Dee flipped it over them so they wouldn’t get chilly. Time for a nap, and then something to eat; if the remainder of the evening went the way he hoped, they were going to need the energy.
The End
