The best part of Christmas, in Ryo’s opinion, was the giving of gifts. He enjoyed gift shopping, trying to find things he knew the recipients would love, and in most cases he was successful. He listened to his friends and loved ones throughout the year, remembering their likes and dislikes, taking note of things they wanted, or were interested in. Although he could often be a bit scatterbrained, he had a good memory for the important things when he tried.
He watched his spending the rest of the year just so he didn’t have to around Christmas. He also bought gifts when he saw them, meaning that by the time Christmas came around, he’d already got most of them.
One thing that couldn’t be done too far in advance, however, was the food shopping. He only had a limited amount of storage space in his kitchen, the freezer wasn’t especially large, and there was no point buying things that would be past their use-by date by the time he needed them.
“How much food are ya buyin’?” Dee asked, eyebrows raised, as he eyed the overloaded supermarket trolley.
“The same as every year,” Ryo admitted ruefully. “Probably way too much.”
