A/N: Double drabble.
“We’re going the wrong way.” Ianto knew Jack wouldn’t listen to him, but he felt obliged to mention that little detail anyway, even if only so that afterwards he could say ‘I told you so’.
“No we’re not,” Jack insisted. “The signal’s coming from that direction.” He pointed ahead and slightly off to the left. “The only way we could go directly towards it would be if we drove right through the buildings, and even in this SUV, that’s impossible.”
“I’m aware of all that, but this happens to be a one-way street, in case you haven’t noticed.” From the way Jack was having to drive, Ianto would have thought it obvious. Then again, it was Jack, so maybe not.
“That’s okay, I’m only going one way.” Jack was grinning as if he’d invented the old joke. Maybe he had; he’d been around long enough.
“I’m not disputing that.” Ianto closed his eyes and gripped the seat tighter. “It’s just that all the other cars are going in the opposite direction.” There were a lot of cars.
“So what? We’re in an emergency response vehicle. We’ve got the blue lights flashing, so everyone should be getting out of our way.”
