After Lucia left him, taking their baby daughter with her, Jack decided that was it; he was never getting sucked into a relationship again. Loving someone wasn’t worth the pain, and besides, it made a man weak. It gave other people something to use as leverage against him: Do as you’re told, or we’ll hurt the person you love.
Well, not anymore. From now on he was going to avoid emotional entanglements, never let anyone tie him down again. That would be best for everyone.
He even managed to keep his vow for a while, satisfying his physical desires with random strangers, never letting anyone too close. But then along came Ianto Jones, with his dry wit, sharp suits, and delicious Welsh accent, and…
Jack was weak, and he knew it. What was that saying? Something like ‘I can resist everything except temptation’. That fitted Jack to a T. Everything about Ianto seemed designed to tempt him, and before he’d known what was happening, the Welshman had captured his heart. Jack could barely remember why he’d been so determined not to fall in love again.
Love might be a weakness, but it was worth whatever price he had to pay.
