“Think I look suitably scary?” Jack asked, doing a twirl in his new Halloween costume. He raised his arms above his head and gave an eerie moan.
Ianto raised an eyebrow. “If you’re wearing that when we go trick or treating with the kids, you’d better let them see you without the mask on first. The twins are only four, you don’t want them to be so terrified of you that they won’t go near you.”
“You really think it’s that scary?” Jack beamed with delight behind his mask.
“You’re dressed as a zombie; that’s bound to give them a nasty turn if you don’t tell them it’s just you playing dress up.”
Ianto couldn’t have been more wrong. The twins arrived home from a trip to the park with Auntie Rhiannon before Jack had a chance to take his costume off. They took one look at him and attacked, hitting and kicking him while yelling at him to get away from their Taddy. Poor Jack staggered back from the assault.
“Ianto, help!”
It took several minutes to get the twins under control and explain that it was Daddy, not a real zombie.
“So much for being scared,” Jack whimpered.
