“I hate switchin’ to daylight savin’ time,” Dee grumbled. “Always end up gettin’ up too early or too late, then I’m tired and cranky the whole day.”
“That’s nothing new,” Ryo joked.
Dee scowled at his partner. “How come it never bothers you?”
“I make sure to get to bed an hour earlier the night the clocks go forward so I don’t miss out on sleep, and I get an extra hour in bed when they go back.”
“Wish I could be that organised; I need my sleep, but when the clocks change, I somehow always miss out.”
“Spring forward, fall back,” Ryo said.
“Huh?”
“The clocks. They go forward an hour in spring, then back in the fall. It’s how my dad taught me to remember.”
“And it works?”
“Yes, Dee; it’s the same every year, they don’t switch it around for fun, trying to catch people out.”
“Cool!” Dee grinned. “That means I can finally get it right this year! A whole extra hour in bed!”
“Uh, no, sorry. You’re out of luck again.”
“But you just said the clocks go back an hour in the fall!”
“They do, but that was last night. You missed it.”
“Damn!”
