Dee hadn’t wanted to work with FBI Agent Diana Spacey in the first place, but he was a lowly detective and Commissioner Rose was the one calling the shots, so it wasn’t like he’d had much choice. Still, it hadn’t been so bad until they were coming out of the hotel, tailing their suspects, with Diana hanging off his arm, and there was Ryo with Rose, just coming in.
It shouldn’t have looked suspicious, because it wasn’t. They’d simply been doing their job, but that FBI witch started hanging all over him, and the look on Ryo’s face was hard to describe. He wasn’t impressed, that was for sure.
Which was SO not fair, and Dee found himself wanting to blurt out, “I can explain! It’s not what you think!” only he didn’t get the chance to say much of anything, and he doubted Ryo would have listened anyway. His partner just breezed past with Rose in tow, and while Ryo glared daggers over his shoulder at Dee, there was a smug smirk on the Commissioner’s face. Dee had the unsettling feeling he’d just been played.
Damn the unscrupulous bastards to Hell! How would Dee ever win Ryo’s heart now?
