A/N: Double drabble.
Ryo had never been a man to take unnecessary risks, chancing to luck to see him through; he preferred to plan, carefully considering his options and doing whatever seemed most sensible. That way he could avoid problems instead of inflicting them on himself and others.
He was sensible, practical, and pragmatic, a little over-cautious perhaps, but he went into everything with his eyes wide open. He wasn’t the impulsive type, never had been. There was too much uncertainty involved, and he’d had his fill of that after his parents were murdered. He never wanted to feel so completely off-balance again.
Being in control of his life and everything in it was important to him. He couldn’t be in total control of everything to do with his job of course, police work meant facing whatever got thrown at him, sometimes literally, and dealing with it. But outside of work he was in charge, and his life ran smoothly with only occasional upsets to his routine.
Then he passed his detective’s exam, was assigned to a new precinct, and his whole carefully ordered life turned upside down. It’s chaos! He has a teenaged son, a male lover, and he’s never been happier.
