Jack burst into the bedroom. “What’s taking you so long? I was ready ages ago!”
“That’s because your idea of packing is to toss a few things into a bag and hope for the best.”
“We’re only going away to the cottage for the weekend; we don’t need much.” Jack was itching to be on the road already. He and Ianto so seldom had the opportunity to get away from it all, even just for a couple of days, and he didn’t want to waste a second.
“You may not need much, but we have a three-year-old daughter who needs an adequate supply of clothes and toys, plus beach items. On top of that we need sunscreen, extra towels, first-aid kit, snacks and drinks for the journey…” Ianto paused his packing to run his hand through his hair. “I’ve packed Meriel’s things, your shaving kit and swimming trunks, which of course you forgot, and now I’m packing what I need, so stop interrupting me or I’ll never be ready.”
“Fine, just hurry up.”
“I’ll be ten minutes. Why don’t you get Meriel and Nosy into the car?”
“Already done. We’re just waiting on you.”
Ianto sighed. “Of course you are.”
