Summary: When she’d been at her most vulnerable, Buffy had found safety in Angel.

A/N: Double drabble.
Halloween had been a total nightmare. It shouldn’t have been, Buffy had been looking forward to dressing up, going Trick of Treating with her friends, indulging in too much candy, but then her costume had become her, or she’d become her costume, and suddenly she’d been a terrified girl surrounded by monsters.
She could remember only too well how that had felt, the helplessness, the confusion, everything that should have been familiar turned into another cause for fear. She never wanted to feel that way again.
She’d foolishly thought Angel would like her better if she dressed like the girls he’d known when he was growing up, but she was finally realising how wrong she’d been. Angel liked her because she was independent, strong, capable, not weak and simpering, needing a man to protect her. She was her own person; she could take care of herself, and Angel respected that, even admired her for it.
Still, her recent experience hadn’t been pleasant, she might easily have died without any hope of defending herself against Spike and his goons. That wasn’t something she’d forget any time soon. Neither was the feeling of safety she’d found in the shelter of Angel’s arms.
