The Doctor stopped as the tip of a sword blade came to rest against his chest.
“Who are you and what are you doing inside the palace?” The guard glared at him from under his shiny helmet.
“I’m the Doctor. I’m here to see her magnificence Queen Ermingarde. We’re old friends.
“Do you have an appointment?” The sword blade still hadn’t moved.
“Nope!” The Doctor bounced on his toes. “Like I said, old friends. I was at her coronation; she told me to drop by anytime, so here I am!”
“The coronation was forty years ago!”
“Well, I was delayed.”
