“Five fifty for a cup of coffee?” Owen stared at the price list in disbelief. “That’s a bit steep. Where do they get off thinking they can charge that much for something that’s mostly hot water and a drop of milk? It’s highway robbery!”
“I know!” Gwen agreed, equally outraged. “It’s bloody ridiculous, I swear it never used to be that expensive. We’d be better off going to McDonalds; at least they don’t charge an arm and a leg.”
“McDonalds it is then. Can get some chips as well, and still pay less than this place charges.” Owen stalked off, Gwen trailing behind him.
“Not the same, is it?” Gwen asked a while later as she and Owen trudged back towards the Hub, sipping substandard coffee. “Still, the chips are okay.”
Owen stared mournfully into his takeaway cup. “I used to love grabbin’ a coffee from McDonalds. Now it tastes like dishwater.” He took another mouthful and pulled a face. “We’ve been spoiled.”
“Yeah. Rhys keeps wondrin’ why I never drink coffee at home anymore, but instant tastes disgusting.”
“D’you think if we grovel enough Ianto will forgive us for breaking his precious machine and start makin’ us coffee again?”
