A/N: Double drabble.
The warm spring weather was perfect for taking a walk in the park, admiring the blossoming trees, and listening to the birds singing, proclaiming their territories.
It was still early, Dee and Ryo had just gotten off working third shift, and they weren’t ready to head home yet. They had no reason to since they had the next two days off before moving back to dayshift, so they were strolling along sipping takeaway coffee when Ryo spotted something.
“What’s that?”
“What?”
“Over there, in the bushes. Is that a ferret?” It was pure white, so it stood out clearly against the green of the grass and leaves. “What’s it doing?”
“Ferreting about?” Dee suggested with a grin.
“Well, yes, I suppose, but what’s a domesticated animal doing running loose in Central Park?”
“You gonna ask it?”
“Maybe.”
Ryo approached the bushes and crouched down, holding out his hand. “Hey there.”
The ferret stopped ferreting and trotted up to him, sniffing his fingers, so Ryo picked it up.
Dee wandered over to join him. “Welp, ya got it, now what’re ya gonna do with it?”
“Take it to a vet, I guess. See if it’s microchipped. It must belong to somebody.”
