A/N: Triple drabble.
Sunlight was peeping through the blinds when Ryo woke and stretched, luxuriating in the knowledge that he and Dee had the day off. Beside him, Dee was still sound asleep, head buried beneath the covers, but Ryo knew he’d never get back to sleep again now. Not when every indication so far was that the storm that had been raging over the city for the best part of a week had finally blown itself out.
Moving carefully, so as not to wake his lover, Ryo slipped out of bed and made his way to the window, reaching for the cord and slowly, quietly drawing the blind upwards. Outside it was a glorious spring morning, the sky eggshell blue with only a few stray wisps of cloud, the sun beating down to dry the sidewalks.
Smiling, Ryo drew the blind a little higher, then the cord suddenly snapped and the whole thing unrolled again, clonking him on the head on its way down so unexpectedly that he lost his balance and toppled backwards onto the bed.
Dee flailed awake. “What the…?” He sat up, rubbing his eyes and scowling at Ryo. “Why’d you wake me up?”
“Sorry, not intentional. I was opening the blinds and the cord snapped,” Ryo explained, turning an apologetic look on his lover.
“You’re bleeding!” Dee leaned forward, frowning.
“Am I?” Ryo brushed his fingers across his forehead and winced. “Ow. The blind must have scratched me when it landed on my head.” He smiled ruefully. “And here I was thinking what a beautiful morning it is. Maybe I should’ve stayed in bed.”
“If you had, it would’a just delayed the inevitable; the cord still would’a snapped.” Dee looked at the blind, hanging drunkenly across the window. “Welp, looks like we’re gonna be doin’ home repairs today.”
